Default Vinal racing stripes for SS

Well guys i just got a black 99 SS and am looking into getting some red racing stripes for it.

these are the style i was looking at but do not like the line between the part over the "scoop" and the part on the hood. does anyone know anywhere else that sells vinals at similar prices to that website.

http://www.phoenixgraphix.com/gm/9800ss.htm

also i am up for some other idea's the whole stripe idea is not 100% dead set could go for the "hockey stick's" or something like that i am not 100% sure at this point but leaning toward the stripes like shown above

Call or e-mail Jay at 3rd gen and he can make them without the line like the Berger stripes. He doesn't list them on his page but can be ordered. He said he's done a few Berger kits but never got any pics to put on the site. That reminds me...gotta send him pics of my hockey and new manta stripes.

You could also try Brent Franker. I've tried 3rdgendecals before, but they refuse to respond to any of their emails, which seems to be a common problem... If I recall correctly, it was even in this forum where a few people complained about their customer service.

You SURE it was 3rd gen? I've only ever heard good things about Jay and his company. I got my stuff right away and extras like extra sets of 350 and 345HP decals as well as 2 sets of fill in stickers front and rear. I bought from him on recommendation of several other people who had nothing but good to say about him.

I'm gonna search and find out where it was that I saw the other complaints, but I know myself and another guy were interested in some custom variations of hockeystripes (just keeping it solid, instead of having it break and have a HP rating) and we tried for a good two months to contact Jay, never got one response, so we gave up.

I find that hard to believe that you didn't get any response from Jay. You should have called him. I know he's gone to a few people's houses to install kits on their cars. How many people selling online do that?

Yeah, I can't find any thread that I could've sworn I saw. I know I saw it somewhere, but apparently not here. I was emailing on behalf of the other guy, he wanted it and wasn't getting a response so he thought it was his email system blocking it or something of the sort, so I emailed him about 5 times over the period of 2 months and never got a response. In any case, to the original poster, they do have a good rep so you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

Main thing to consider in the price, though, is that it's directly related to quality. Stock vinyl is something like 8mm (atleast I think SLP's vinyl specifically was 8mm for their 30th anniversary stripes), whereas some people use vinyl that's thinner than that, making it cheaper, but also making it prone to tearing off.

There is also sheet and cast vinyl too. Cast is better than sheet. 3rd gen uses cast. He has more info on his site about the differences and why it's better.

I went with vinyl decals to see if I liked it, and then when I bought my hood and had it painted, I had them paint the stripes on. The vinyl isn't a bad way to go if you want to see what it looks like before commiting to paint, but let me tell ya, if you do like stripes and you know you like it, paint is definitely the way to go.

I went with stripes for something quick and different and cheap. I really want to repaint the whole car cuz I'm sick of black but don't have the time or money to do that right now. If I repaint it another color I'll probably do painted stripes then.
