fuel rail covers = pain in the ass?

fuel rail covers = pain in the ***?
my covers arrived today. first thing i did when i got home from work was try to get them on. after about a half hour i got frustrated enough and said "i'll make a post and hope someone has the answer". the covers don't seem to correctly. they seem too large for the gap between the engine and the engine bay's ceiling. i am assuming the cover with the hole and slot is for the oil dipstick. and the cover with the gaping hole is for driver side. as the hole is meant to fit the power steering fluid cap. is this suppost to be done with the engine out of the car then put it back in? HEEEEELPPPP.

You have to butcher them to get them to fit at all. It sounds like you dont have any clue what the hell you are doing, especially since you are mentioning the power steering cap...

Im having some troubles also with mine, im going to post pics sometime soon. My driver side cover is giving me problems, I cut the tape off the lines but it seems when I put the lines in the slots it wont go back because they keep the cover from going back.

Summit Racing shouldn't have put fuel rail covers made primarily for Corvettes. In the Camaro section of their online catalog. That simple. And no, I'm not kidding you.

Like stated above, take your time. Measure and check twice, cut once. The hole is for the oil filler neck. The slot is for the fuel lines. You will need to cut another slot for the second line. The rear of the covers can also be cut to make installation easier. The backs sit under the windshield cowl anyway. Mine are also cut around the throttle cable. The first picture shows the slots on the drivers side. The next one shows the pass. side and the last one shows the drivers side installed. Before you say it, I know the engine is dirty. These pictures were taken only to show the new painted covers. Imagine how much dust you pick up with it sitting without a hood for a month. The covers were made originally by a member here. They were on the car for 2+ years before being redone with the true fire. The true fire was also done by a member here. I'm not sure they are sponsers here, so I won't post their names. Most know who they are.

Wow, ..., Rookies should use that 'Search' function a lot more & learn what's necessary before gettin' in too deep, ...,
Look at photos of other cut units. Then start cutting.
Ya want to take a simple route out? Send'em to me, ..., I'll cut'em & send'em back with some instructions for mounting.

First of all you bought the wrong cover for the driver's side. There is a specific cover for that side with the 2 fuel line slits already cut from the factory. Guarantee they look better than any human could ever cut. Summitt doesn't know **** when it comes to this. I would send them back and if you want a REAL set cut to fit let me know.
