I've seen lots of SS clones- mainly Chevelles and Camaros from the 60's and I love the look. It seems like most of the time when people take the time to make a clone, they care about their ride and keep it looking tight. I recently had the pleasure to inspect an absolutely beautiful, complete frame-off resto '69 Camaro Yenko clone selling for 30K. I'm not really into 69's that much, but I was thinking it would be fun to blast down the highway in it and have people that know the difference say "Holy S#!t, that's a Yenko!". Whatever the model, if it was me driving it, I wouldn't hesitate to tell people it was a clone if they asked; neither would I be ashamed to admit it. However, I wouldn't try to sell it as a genuine SS/Yenko/whatever... either, at least not unless I was sure I could get away with it.

LOL!

I already posted that statement by Scott Settlemire (post #56). Anyway, to give proper credit, I found it at www.gminsidenews.com 2 or 3 years ago.

Id call someone a ricer id if they put SS badges on a Z28...

In a round-a-bout way it would be like slapping Z28 badges on a V6er... it just aint right.

z28 is strictly camaro... the name "SS" is on everything!! chevelle, nova, impala, camaro, silverado, s10 for 1 year i believe, and a damn 4 cylinder cobalt. to have a z28 sets you apart from all those other cars. class of its own in my opinion. and z28 sounds cooler than SS...when someone says look at that z28 you are like "camaro? where?" if they say look at the SS you have no idea what the hell to look for. be proud and rep the Z!! there are alternatives for emblems (z06 style that still say z28, 1st gen, 2nd gen, chrome)

I saw one here at Little Rock couple days ago, it had SS badges on the right places but yet it was obviously a V6. No 17s rims, no dual out exhaust, none of that special hood and special spoiler. imposter I drove beside him and revved my Z at him and did notion at the driver.

The problem with the Z28 is it looks like a v6 side to side in the later years. Both look identical minus the decals. Most people also don't notice the black mirrors/b-pillar on the older ones. I hate pulling up to a gas station or at my work and people ask mockingly if I have a V8.

I had one regular lady/customer make fun of my small engine when she a 3.9 v6 with 180hp in her old *** Dodge D150. I mentioned politely mine had a 5.7 engine then she shut up.

I just pulled the decals off of my car altogether and went completely badgeless. It was nice having all of the cars try and race a v6 then get their %ss handed to them!

Plus if you ever mention you have a Z28 everyone says, "Oh yeah, I like the SS they have a lot of power". Of course if you say you have a SS then people say "Oh yeah, I like the WS6 they have a lot of power."

Likewise with Corvettes now, "I have a convertible."
"Oh yeah, I like the Z06"

"I have a Z06."
"Oh yeah I like the new C6."

"I have a new C6"
"Oh yeah, I like the new C6 Z06"

It never ends. Next its going to be "Oh yeah, I like the new Z06 Blue Ray/SS whatever its called."

Really... but since it came back up... I don't see why anyone gives a **** that people don't know a Z28 from an Cavalier. Or think you got a v6 when you're running a v8. It's the people that know the difference that counts.

Exactly. Despite the fact that it pisses me off that some people are so ignorant or completely unwilling to be educated, I can blow them off because I know that they aren't even aware of the difference.

i dont see it wrong, its just a clon

the hood and the spoiler looks bad ***, so if you have it, why don the badgets?

as many had said, the only thing wrong is to try to sell an SS thats is not a real SS

but IMO it'll look weird a car that looks like a SS with Z28 badgets, dont you think?? maybe a personalized ones, but with the OEM, nah

naaa.. why bother doing that. I dont see the point.

you're already modifying the car and thats gonna be obvious anyways.

even if I was working to clone a ws6.. i wouldn't label it a ws6, because, well... its not..
