How about if you have a V6 93-97 and dropped an LS1 in it...should you leave it badgeless?or would a Z/28 sticker be ok?

I am leaning toward badgeless...

1 more..how about if you do the 98+ front end swap..would that be wrong?

No, this would be wrong. Even if you did drop an LS1 into an original V6 Fbody, it still would lack a lot from being a Z28. The suspension, possible transmission, hell, even the speedometer. Even if you made all of these changes, it still wouldnt be an authentic Z28, so I would be dissapointed to see this car w/ Z28 emblems.

I would accept that a lot faster than I would seeing SS emblems on a non SS car.

Why would you want to put the badges on it? I dont really understand that. Personally I do think supersports look better with the ram air hood and spoiler. But the only thing that turns me away from it is:

GM is no longer like it used to be. Now days you can get what? A suv mommy mobile SS, a front wheel drive ss, and a pickup truck ss. The name "supersport" is all over the place.

BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE Z28!

I think most people who want SS or WS6 emblems on their Camaro or Firebird want them solely for the purpose of impressing others. Lets face it, 90% of the people out there dont even know what the difference in an SS package is from the stock package, but they do know its the top-of-the-line package & the owners who want these emblems want others to think that their car is the top of the line edition, even if there is a slight to no difference in the 2 performance wize. I laugh when I see people dissapointed when I tell them that mine is just a regular Trans Am, not a WS6.

A SS is a Z28 installed by SLP
A Z28 is a Z28 installed by GM
A F1 is a Z28 installed by you or dealer
A RS is not a Z28
a SC is not a Z28 edit: well I gess all camaros are SC's but unbadged SC's is not a Z28

I don't think anyone cars what badges you put on a non original SS Z28.
As long as you don't put SS badges on it.
If you wanted to put RS on your Z28 no one would ever care well maybe a few but most people wouldn't car. It's just that SS badge that is so important that it would be a sin to put on your car. if you put a LS1 in a SC and put Z28 badges on it no one would ever ask you a thing or think anything about it. no one would ask is that a real Z28. Or is that a real RS.

Hate to burst your bubble dude but, there were "Super Sport" Impalas and Chevelles before the Camaro was even "born" and THAT is where the heritage comes from. Your line of thought obviously comes from being too young or too under-educated to know the difference.

I vote on using vintage emblems, if you actually cloned it as an SS, go ahead and badge it, just don't tell people it's legit.

-Keep in mind that Z/28s have black roofs, while the SS has a color coded roof. The biggest thing that annoys me is when a car isn't "right" For example, if it's got SS badges, it needs to have OEM or OEM-style SS hood and spoiler, and the right roof... just my two cents, but if you can trick me into believing it, it's fine, just don't lie to me when I ask!

If you don't know what your talking about then why?

My SS is a true SS and I have a black roof.

You are right, badgeless OR even cooler sometime of custom badging to reflect it being custom

The only cars that started as v6's, got transplants and re-badged and accepted are:

A) Done by GM...

B) Done by someone with GM's permission (GMMG)...

I believe the only way to get the emblems is they come with the main kit. or if you have proof that you purchased the kit you can get replacements
The center caps can be purchaced on there own.

I thought you were saying this:

…and I'm saying that is the way GM used to be, in it's heyday. Your "grocery-getters" and "mommy-mobiles" all got the Super Sport treatment. GM is just trying to get back to their glory days. There is only one Z28, same as there is only one Impala, or Chevelle, or Nova, or Monte Carlo. But, only the lucky ones get to be a Super Sport.

I think that SVT and the Z insert -XX sounds better than GT or SS personally.

Z06 and Z28 sound a lot more like mean business than SS being on everything from a Cobolt to a 400 hp 6.0 liter.

No doubt I am not insulting the SS nameplate or anything, I just think that the ZL1, Z06, and the Z71 sound better than just sticking a SS on every car with an extra eighty to a hundred horsepower over the base version.

I don't see Pontiac sticking a T/A on all of their top-of-the-line models in their line-up anytime soon, (it might make Firebird owners actually remember that their car is called a Firebird and not just a T/A).
