Throwing SS Badges on a Z28, wrong or right
#121
Have you noticed that most the SS and Ws6 owners say it's wrong and most the Z and TA owners say it's ok? I drive a Z and personally wouldn't do it, but if you have all the SS parts, why not? You know how many poser 69 SS's there are out there?

its like putting trans am badges on a formula.. its still an f-body, both kick ***.. stick with the z28.. 69 z/28s are worth more than 69 ss's and who doesnt love 69 camaros... so my ultimate decision would be to... throw some IROC badges on it hahah jk (no offence to irocz's, would just look really funny on an lt1 or ls1)

I'm proud of my Z. I like the SS and the extra stuff it comes with but I wouldn't through on the SS badges. I might one day change hoods but the SS hood is my third choose right now but the SS wing now is at the top followed by the RS three piece. It's like GT people upgrading their stangs and adding the Cobra badges. Serials dont match. I think it devaluates the car's worth.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but I've personally never seen anything wrong with it. But there is always going to be a critic no matter what you do. I say do what you want as long as when you are asked, you claim it to be a Z28. I'd be proud to own a Z, but that's just it, you own, do what you want. Anyone who customizes a car does it to make it their own, you'll be the one behind the wheel. Oh yeah, and if it's ricer that comments on it, smack em', lol.

Ok, this is can be a very confusing subject as everybody likes adding things to their car to make them look better. And I think that's cool, but when you start adding badges to things you get into a grey area. Take for instance a Firebird owner I met at Commerce, he had cloned a 2002 T/A WS6, looked just like it. I beat him in front of God and everybody with MY 1998 GRAND CHEROKEE!!!!! That just looks bad IMO. Here is the real kicker.... I talked to him after the race, and he told me his next clone was going to be a BLACKBIRD!!!!!! Now that is going too far..................

Coming from a restoration family and owning an 01' SS, as well as being a sensible and rational person, I can understand both point of view's.
Driving from car show to car show in my 71' Challenger with my father, we've seen our fair share of clone cars. In shows, they get little respect despite the time and effort they've put into their cars. They could be the most beautiful camaro's on earth, but would get no props from some of these hardcore 'showers.
On the other side, I was one phone call away from getting a z28 instead of my SS. I know as a fact I would have slapped a hood and spoiler on that bad boy. However, at the end of the day I would still call it a z28.
I can see why people would want the SS looks (they're gorgeous!), but be proud of what you own, please.
