The more important question is "why?"

What is wrong with a Z28? All it shows it that the person knows nothing of the heritage of the car they are driving.

Exactly. You have the hood et al. those make it look better. The badges do not add anything that the z28 badges do aestetically (sp). Not like they add any styling to the car [like the hood], the sole purpose is making someone think your car is a genuine SS.

I dont think its a matter of the person not liking their car, if they didnt they wouldnt have it. Honestly, heritage or not 4th gen SS's look better than Z28's STOCK! Z28 Badges on a car with an SS hood/wheels/spoiler honestly look kind of goofy. The dictionary definition of poser is: Poser n 1: a person who habitually pretends to be something he is not So by definition anybody who slaps ANY emblem OR removes one would be considered a poser. Now personal defintions and skews of the word can cause arguments. Do i think that it is right or wrong to switch the emblems or not? No. Should the owner catch crap for doing it? Not unless they CLAIM it as a true SS. I understand that people have, but it is also PARTLY the buyers responsibility to make sure they are buying a genuine product. If i had a Z28 and put all the SS stuff on it, i'd do a badge just because i like it, i wouldnt even have a problem with a tag saying "FAKE SS" they just look better on the car. Now if i put a WS6 hood on my car, im not sticking a badge on it, because i personally dont think it looks alot better. I say do what you want, if you dont just to make other people happy you wont be. Just my .02, but what do i know, college kids are dumb.

Your Trans Am has SS wheels on it. By your definition above, I think you should put SS emblems on your Trans Am just because you think the SS emblems look so good.

Obviously, about 80% of the people that voted care. I guess 80% of the voters understand what car identity and heritage mean to the Camaro. Maybe those 80% have been screwed by someone on something fake, or misrepresented. I'm sure those 80% of people wouldn't care if you put "SS Wannabe" emblems on the side of the Z28 though.

i would somebody put ss on a z. i mean, its already a z. and actually the z has more of a history with the camaro, where as ss was used on a lot of chevy cars, (and is used way to much these days). be proud that you have a z.

My definition only defined "poser" it didnt say whether to do or not to do something. Are they SS wheels or ZR1's?? Either way by definition my car is considered a poser, I'm not arguing that. But you know what, i like how they look, and if i liked how SS emblems looked on my car, i'd put them on, but i dont. I also said the SS emblems look better on Camaro's that have the wheels/hood/and spoiler, not on a TA, if it was about heritage then why even put SS stuff on the car? I think a dick herral (sp) spoiler and suncoast hood would look tons better, and keep the z badge, im just saying that SS badges look better than the Z28 badges on a car that has SS parts, my opinion, heck even a badge that just said 'Z' would be cool. But..... if i should have SS emblems because of my wheels, should Boyd Coddington sign your car? I am liking your cars though, you have a good eye.

If you like the way that the Z28 looks then cool. But if you want to change some things on your Z28 like an SS hood and wing, then go for it. But please put the SS badges on it, it looks funny with the Z28 badges on it.

NOW, if you're hanging out with the car group and what not, call it what it is.....an SS clone. People have been doing this for years, look into the 1st gens and you'll see.
BUT, if you happen to put it up for sale, make sure the buyer knows that it is a Z28 SS clone.

Peace,
Craig.

I would much rather have my stock looking car firebird formula in my case and pull up to an ss or a ws6 and smoke the crap out of it. I just smile and think all the money i saved in buying my formula i put into go fast parts.

Hey, whatever floats your boat. But as long as these cars have been out there, and now stopped selling. More and more are modded.

So......don't be suprised when you roll up to an "SS or a WS6" that has some nice wheels looking sharp and then they drag your *** so hard its like your car was in reverse.
Some people have more money then you, and they can afford the SS or WS6 and put the same parts in as you did, plus a truck load more. The idea is what you could afford and/or like and then have money afterwards to mod it.

I love ALL of the LS1 f-bodies, I wish that I could afford to have one of each, and a vette to top it off!

Peace,
Craig.

I think the posted question is a stupid one, because why would you demean your car by putting the SS badging on it? How many other model SS cars are out there? It's a played-out badge. Also, on the 4th gen Camaro, the SS was obviously only an appearance package on a car that had the same exact V8 as the Z28. In other words, the SS option for the Camaro is a poser's option.

You're only stupid if you argue with the facts.
