I have the Suncoast Creations SS hood. I picked it because it has a slightly taller, more aggressive looking scoop than the other OEM like hoods.

Fitment....well, you are going to have adjust the car around the hood, there is no ifs and buts about it. I thought my hood would never fit. My body shop was incapable of getting it to fit right. Thankfully I only live 70 miles from Suncoast Creations, so I went there and they made it fit just about right.

As far as body work on the hood goes, they charged me 800 dollars to paint the hood, this was my dealer however..... They had to blocksand it, and use some filler to fill in the little dimples the hood had from when they clamped the top and bottom piece of the hood together. They also blended it both of my fenders, and the bottom of the hood was cleared as well.

I like my hood, and had no issues with it since it's been installed about 3 years ago.

Default boa-f/x ss hood

I can't tell you how pleased I am with my aftermarket SS hood from Boa-F/X out of Texas . It was so well finished from them that it needed no filler before painting. The underside is show quality and it is advertised as being made of the best material. Their service was impeccable as they returned every email and spoke personally with me on the phone in a no-nonsense as in no professional manner. I don't know anything about fiberglass but for some reason this hood feels like it is hard as steel. They advertise the hood as being twice as thick as their competitors and I can vouch for that as I had to take a little effort to get it to sit low enough. The hood is perfect in length and is the most rigid body component on my 2001 Z28. It uses the original mounting struts and latches and it has far less flex than the original composite hood. I have pictures of the hood as it is fit on my car. If you are interested I can post the pictures before and after fit and painting .

$440 with $91.01 (50 LBS) shipped to a terminal in my NE Ohio area. Here's the link to their website. http://www.boa-fx.com/pages/10/index.htm

You can buy cheaper hoods but I'm positive I got the best value for mine and I absolutely love the look.

Good luck with this...

Your pics of the hood look terrific. I can see the taller profile and aggressive look. Real nice. If I could afford it, I would go with what you have. I think you got a deal even at $.8k because yours is a modified improvement from the original. Mine is pretty much a one off copy...

I'm on a bit of a budget as I have two cars to feed. I had been looking at $300 ebaymotors hoods and saw where some were advising using different hood struts to protect the hood from what I figured was cracking while closing.

Regards

Thanks man!

Did I mention that the dealer charged me 800 bucks for the paint work? But oh well...I like it! And yes, my Suncoast Hood came with special struts so nothing will crack or bow out or whatever the stock shocks would do to it.

I guess this won't make you feel any better but mine was painted metallic navy for $193. It's not a perfect paint job but it is totally good for me. I don't see how the guy made any money on the job. It was done in a body shop, the nephew of a co-worker. I figure he shorted himself to do a favor. I offered to pay him for buffing it out later and he wouldn't take it. This was the 2nd hood he has done for me. He charged me $156 on the Harwood (black) for my 95. If you are in California, I know labor is a lot more than it is here in the rust belt. Where I live, we're on the verge of a depression so maybe your prices aren't that out of line.

Regards

I live in FL, and dealers always charge outrageous prices, but it was worth it to me since the color matched perfectly. The car was 5 years old when the hood was put on, so some fade was of concern.

Yeah i already of the LS6 engine in. My old engine pretty much destroyed it self blew 2 big holes on both sides of the lower part of the block. So i got pretty much a Long Block 04 Z06 engine for 3400 with 4k miles on it. Got Pacesetter LT's ORY had to get LS6 intake i eliminated A/C, AIR, EGR thing has like nothing running across the engine anymore so much cleaner look. But looking to get it tuned this month at Eastside Performance. Now i gotta start getting Subframe connectors and all those body strengthen stuff.
