No, LED's draw such little power to operate, you could leave them on for days and never draw your battery down. But they should not be "on" when you turn them "off"

Default leds still on

i posted this in both threads. i'm not the only one apparently that has noticed this.
I have a question for people who have them installed though. When my map lights turn off they emmit a VERY dim glow like they are still recieveing a really low current. Im not sure wahts causing it all I did was swap the old stock ones out and put the LEDs in. You probably wont even notice the small amount of light but since my car is in a pitch dark garage when I went in with the lights off I saw the two very subtle glows from the map lights. It doesnt really bother me, but Id rather not have my battery get killed from it.
there is someone else having the same thing as me. they're not on all the way, just a very dim glow as he stated in his thread. i think they look good, just worries me that they didn't go all the way off?

thanks,
rob

does it take extra time for them to go all the way off?
i think i'll go put them back in the car and leave them for awhile and see if they go all the way back off after 30 or 45 minutes.

mine is a 99 t/a ws-6
mine takes 3 total bulbs of what you used for your dome light. none of what you used for your map lights. hope that makes sense.

1 in each side of map light, and 1 for dome.

turn your dome light on and back off and see if they go all the way out, or glow just a little, just out of curiousity.
i'll go back out and see if mine are still glowing.

went back and checked......still glowing, just barely like before, but still on.

anyone else have any ideas or the same deal with thiers?

I checked mine today, and yes they were glowing. I can only see them glow when I look directly into it.

I used to have a flashlight that ran off a 9v battery. It would glow just like these, a very faint light. It said it would last for like 5 years like that before the battery would die. I wouldn't be too worried about the lights draining your battery, like stated before they hardly draw any energy.

The battery won't go dead from the LEDs, unless the car just sits for years.

Yeah, my only concern was i leave my car at the airport kind of often on trips and I really didnt want to come back to a dead battery. I dont think the glow is draining my battery but I just wanted to be sure about that or see if anybody else had the same issue.

Just to give you an idea as to how much power LED's drain, I've had an LED flash light with a AAA batery in it, for over 2 years, and there have been a couple of times, camping at what not I've accidently left it on all night and I still have the same battery and bulb in it. It's not going to run a car battery down.

I noticed last night if I messed with the button, you can turn the lights completely off, but to do this the button is between off and on. I wonder if you take the mirror apart if you could mess with the switch.

Ha. They definitely are brighter than stock. Basically, from the opposite side, I drilled a small hole through the trim pieces, through the stock lighting hole at an angle that would best illuminate the switches. Then I glued into place, with a lot of hot glue, an LED into place.

where are you guys getting you map & dome light LEDs from?
-superbrightleds.com?
-vleds.com?

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Ffestoon.htm l

Has anyone used these? Are they the right ones for the map and dome lights?
I clicked the buy now of the 2nd box, went down to the bottom where it says 4410.

i read that putting the 4410 in the dome light doesn't really change anything... anyone have any more facts on this?

I put the 4410 in the dome light on my '02 WS6, it's bright as hell...also, not sure about yours, but 194s directly replaced the lights in my map lights...
