Yes, I see this thread is over 3 years old. . . . But this was my exact question.

Where do you all mount you HID ballasts?

Mine are solid state, flat and thin so I just stuck them on the bumper supports with some 3M industrial tape. 1 year and no problems.

Mine are mounted on the crossbar, similar to what was shown on this thread. Being the paranoid that I am, I added a ziptie through one of the screw mount holes, just in case the tape gave out so the ballast wouldn't get caught anywhere it could cause $$$ damage.
