Default Those who did the whistler mod...

Did you put your headlight bracket in the oven along with your headlamp when you heated it up?

Also, those who didn't use the oven method, what did you do to heat it up?

Well, I just found it's OK to put them in there with the bracket on, lol.

This is all part of a projector retrofit, btw.

Dang, the left side is being a PITA. I've must have baked it for 30 minutes and the stupid adhesive still won't let go. Ugh.

Right side was easy. Go figure.

Yeah, dont set the oven to high....just to where it warms up the headlight so you can take the lense off easily.....dont pull to hard because you can crack the lense very easy.

I got it. I ended up chipping part of the plastic trying to get it off. Very small though. Nothing a little bit of super glue won't fix.

It was at 200 degrees for around 40 minutes or so before it finally came off.

Would a heat gun work or is the oven a better way?

heat gun might, but might put out to much heat

plus puttin it in the oven is prolly faster, since ur heating up the whole thing, instead of one spot at a time

let me know how the light output is at night, I had my lights out, and put them back in after the smoked corner install, wanted to know if I was still able to see at night after the mod, so far this is the only thing stoping me.

I left the brackets on. I left mine in for about 35-40 minutes at 225. I tried 200 for 30 minutes but they would not come apart. After 40 minutes at 225 it was a cinch.

I had purchased a used set of lights as I was too worried about messing up my originals. Once I installed the modified lights I removed my originals and those only took about 20 minutes at 225 to come apart. Either I had gotten better at it or the lights on my car came apart easier since they were probably newer. The ones I bought came off a 98 or 99 I think and my car is an 02. I'm thinking of painting my originals the body color but I'm not sure yet.
