Definitely sounds like things weren't fully dried yet.

I painted my lid, brake calipers, and valve covers white with high temp paint and they looked good. That is till I put the high temp clear on. The clear instantly yellowed everything. I ended up just using regular model car clear on the brakes and they still look good.

Yea, it helps to let things FULLY cure before installing them. I use regular automotive paint on everything including fuel rail covers that sit basically on top of exhaust manifolds or headers and have had no problems. Can't see how a lid that has little heat around it would melt off unless it wasn't cured or you used crappy paint.

I used high heat red and high heat clear. Wire brushed, masked off areas, prepped with alcohol, and went to town. I let the red dry for an hour and layed the clear on so thick that it was milky. Let it dry and cure fully overnight and it stayed like new for almost a year untill the polish bug got me.

Make sure you use the exact same brand base and clear.

Before I polished everything.

yeah i used a few different paints....the only high temp paint i used was the clear...i let it dry over night b4 putting it back in...but its so damn HOT here in houston...you can literally put a heat blister on your skin by just touching the hood. well i guess the thing to do now is sand it AGAIN...and use all high temp paint...and i honestly think i put it all on too thick....anyhoo thanks for the help guys
