Im going to get a Craftsmen, a real cheap one, I know it wont be the best by far, but Im in a real tight spot with cash, and Im about 300 from a new 355.
Is it safe to use on doors and fenders? thats where I get no gloss

Just make sure that whatever polisher you get - that it is a Random Orbital type. The Porter Cable 7424 is the industry standard polisher for these purposes and well worth the $149 that it costs. It features the random orbit (dual-action) polishing action for a swirl free finish. Even though it's powerful, it will not scratch or burn any clear coat paint finish (which is a very good thing for a beginner).
