I promise you wont break it! Mine was a bitch too! Just get a really good grip on it with both hands and possibly a rag over it to keep it from getting slippery and twist like a ****!! Mine finally broke lose. If your too weak to get it off like that then i guess you could use a filter wrench or a pipe wrench but make sure you put a rag around the **** so you dont tear it up. Good luck!

im not sure if thats totally true. if its the stock shifter, you can actually twist the stick out of the molded rubber isolateri youre not careful. it happened to me.

Try to take it off when the car has not been driven for a bit... the tranny stays really warm after you drive the car. We all know metal expands as it gets warmer. Not saying this will solve your problem, but I have realized it to be a bit easier to remove the **** when the car has sat overnight as opposed to right after I drove home. Just my .02

If it does break, just repl it with the new Z06 shifter. It looks cool. Someone had a thread about it. Maybe you will get lucky and break it

I had a hell of a time so I pulled out the smallest strap wrench I could find.

Worked like a charm! Just strap it around and twist it off. Super easy.
