Default Details: C5 and C6 Corvette

This car belongs to my girlfriend's father. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to detail this car in two years (and it was evident). It had no protection, water spots, swirls, bird droppings, etc., and an interior full of leaves, dirt, and very dry leather. My goal wasn't to remove every defect (it's likely they'll soon return), but I gave it a deep cleaning inside and out. I had the vehicle for several days and drove it a little in between.

Process:

Day 1

-Vacuum thoroughly
-Zaino Z9 Leather Cleaner everywhere but glass
-Zaino Z10 Leather Conditioner everywhere but glass
-Simple Green 1:3 for wheels/tires/wells
-Zaino Z7 wash
-Zaino Z18 clay with Truck Gloss lube
-Zaino Z16 on tires

Day 2

-Zaino Z10 on seat bottoms
-Zaino Z7 wash
-Menzerna PO106FF with polishing pad at 1500 rpm (x2 on a few water spotted areas)
-Zaino ZPC by hand on wheels and exhaust tips
-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd) x 3
-Zaino Z8
-Zaino Z16 on tires

Day 3 (actually day 6)

-Vacuum
-Meguiar's Interior Quick Detailer
-Zaino Z7 wash
-Zaino Z8
-Zaino Z16 on tires
-Sprayway on all glass

This one belongs to a good friend, and he wanted a good interior and exterior clean-up. Nothing major here except a little tar and moderate dirt inside.

Process

-Vacuum
-Zaino Z9 and Z10 on seats
-Meguiar’s Interior Quick Detailer on rubber, vinyl, plastic, etc.

-Simple Green 1:3 on wheels/tires/wells
-WD40 on tar
-Zaino Z7 wash
-Zaino Z2 Pro x 1
-Zaino Z8
- Zaino Z16 on tires
-Sprayway on all glass

Damm, looks good, I will never understand why people let cars like that get that dirty, but good job cleaning them up

I love looking at your before and after threads! I need to make the trip to Lubbock and have you do my car. But then it would be useless since I'd have an hour and a half drive back home.

Well, the owner of the C5 owns 4 businesses and works 60-70 hours every week. He just doesn't have the time to do it right.

It cleans up really easily with soap and water

Couple of questions

How do you like the ZPC? I thought it was for clearcoats but it's interesting you used it to work the tips. What do you feel its comparable to with PB's SSR?

Maybe you've been asked this (more than likely) how do you work around emblems/decals? Products are going to get gunked up in there, how do you remove them?

Very nice job!

ZPC works pretty well on coated metals like exhaust tips. It has a cut similar to SSR 2, but it finishes as well or better than SSR 1.

I typically tape off decals/emblems.

What was the name of the menzerna polish you used? I see it wasn't very abrasive at all (I know you weren't going for abrasive).

Menzerna PO106FF - it's a cerami-clear polish. It's not quite as strong as Menzerna IP, but it can finish down better than FP. I was able to remove about 75% of the defects with one pass on the rotary. If you're referring the trunk picture, there are leftover smudges that I removed with a subsequent wash.

Whats your process for treating the leather? Just wipe on wipe off or do you massage it in the leather, let it dry then wipe any excess off?

You do some nice work, just wondering since I have some tar on my car, is WD40 safe to use?

JerseyLS1TA - if necessary, I use a medium bristle brush with the Z9 to deep clean the leather. Once clean and dry, I use a cotton applicator to apply the Z10 conditioner. Just apply it and give it some time to soak in.

Mike00ss - WD40 is safe, but you need to re-protect any affected areas.

Ok thanks. I wanna really clean my seats, even though they arent bad, but I have been hesitant to use any type of scrub brush.

You can use a microfiber towel, too.
