Default cleaning taillights? making them look better

Just wondering what some opinions are on cleaning the out side of your tail lights and getting the scratches out or to look less noticeable? Buffing them? any certain solution to use?

I'd think if you followed the write up for fixing foggy headlights, you'd get new looking taillights
