How do I make this black again?? *pic* This strip of metal/plastic/whatever is faded horribly. The owner before me took the car to work and it sat in the sun all day long and now this peice is faded like crazy. We have tried cleaners wax and metal polish, but so far none of them are working. What are some suggestions from you guys as to how I should make this peice look better? Any help is welcome, and thanks in advanced.

"Back to black" would work just fine.......but it's only a band-aid on a broken arm. It'll be great if you put it on with every wash, but it'll eventually just wear off. Paint is the only fix, and I think you could probably pull it off yourself with a rattle can, if you did meticulous prep work and maybe some color sanding afterward. You might dig around on PT.net, there are a ton of guys who've painted stuff with a can and had great results.

probably the bottom rocker things but that t-top center piece doesnt just bolt on I dont think...maybe im wrong though ive never looked at it that much

im interested too, mine looks good now but i think its not gonna last too long in this florida sun..its the same metalor whatver thats on the little triangle by the dooor i believe..those might need it too
the center bar is screwed on, but also sealed on with some sort of glue. i already tried taking mine off for something. have u tried wet sanding it?(might be ahrd to do on hte car) maybe u can sand down through the gray sun damage down to black.

Is it a grainy porous plastic? PEANUT BUTTER! Really! Just get some creamy peanut butter, rub it on kind of thick and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then rub it off. It works much better than the Back to Black stuff, and is near permanent. I know it sounds crazy but just try it... 
Before you paint it please try this because it worked for me. Get either Mother's Body scrub or 3M Fine Cut Rubbing Compound. It worked wonders on my sail panels, boyfriends and his brothers. They are nice and shiny now!
