Default High and Low beams at the same time?

Is there any way to make it so that ALL the lights come on and stay on when you switch on the highbeams? I know that frog lights dont do anything, but at least can we get the lowbeams and the highbeams to funtion at the same time? Just a thought. There's probably some reason why GM didnt do that, but it seems to me like it would be a little brighter, and a hell of a lot cheaper than HIDs if all it involves is cutting and splicing a few wires...or hell, even doing some work in the switch itself.

I remember seeing a write-up on it a few years back. It involved some soldering and whatnot, but it can be done, yes.

i have a trans am and when i switch on my high beams the fog lights turn off but all four beams stay on. Are trans ams different than camaros or did somebody mod my car? I never gave it any thought at all but one night one of my friends was checking out my car and he switched on my high beams and he said "dude your lows stay on? i have to buy a kit for that !" he drives a lifted 2003 silverado so maybe its a chevy thing?

I have that setup, but it's a custom wiring harness that's used with my HIDs. Try install university dot com and see if they have something on it. It's got to be possible with the right wiring/relay, since my HIDs just take a low beam signal to turn on.

I will look at my wiring harness tomorrow and see if there's any specific information I can offer you.

BTW, lows and highs at the same time is AWESOME. It'll blind oncoming traffic, but damn you can see everything........

i know for a FACT that you can get a kit wor this on jcwhitney.com for suburbans and silverados.... since the wiring is almost exactly the same on camaros, that kit should work.... hell, go search it on there and it will prob be there!

My firebird does it also with the fog lights going off and all four beams staying on. I think thats how they came. I think the ls1 camaro's are the black sheep here.

Okay, well i just tried the http://www.evlls1.com/lights.html mod and it kinda worked...and by kinda i mean the fog lights stay on with the high beams, but the low beams still dont turn on with it. It was meant for TransAms. Now, the frog lights work the same with low beams, but when you turn the high beams on the frogs can be turned on, but not off. I guess im gonna have to buy that JC thing unless someone else knows how to get a camaro to do the trick...

Okay. I got the JC Whitney thing and it works! I must say that its bright as hell, almost BMW bright. All 6 lights are on when i hit the high beams, and it was extremely easy to install. I did both, the JC Whitney thing http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/V...002852/c-10101 , and the http://www.evlls1.com/lights.html mod.

Together its awesome!

I have mine set to turn on in any combination of low, high or fog lights. I used the painless wiring harness that is also found at JCWhitney, I don't recall what I did with the fog lights though. They will stay on so long as the switch is on, regardless of the low or high beams being on/off.

there doesnt SEEM to be much logic behind GMs decision of what cars do what...

on my 91 camaro for example, it keeps all 4 on.... but on my old 82 and 85, it shut the lows off.... even though the cars are almost identical.

in anycase, some wire and a relay can fix that problem for ya.

I dont have a picture, but this fuse box is on the driver side, closest to the fender well. Im honestly not sure how many green wires there were, but it seems like the fuse itself was an abnormal fuse, like one of those metal box kind.

I think there are two fuse boxes on that side, one sits lower and closer to the lights, and the other a little higher and closer to the fender. I want to say that this green wire and fuse was close to the bottom left of the box, as you're standing beside the car not in front. I think its just a ground wire. I stretched it over to another factory ground about 6 inches away with another piece of wire.
