98 WS6 with purple metallic paint
How rare is a 1998 Trans Am WS6 with the purple metallic paint? I know that they are pretty rare, but would it command a higher price if sold? Thanks

The person could sell it for however high of a price they want, but they have to find someone willing to pay that amount. They could get a bit more than the average price of a WS6 or they may only get what an average WS6 is worth.

the thing with the purple is that a lot of people don't like it... and if no one likes something it doesn't matter how rare it is. i personally love the color. selling it higher would be a matter of patience in finding the right person.

I am asking becuase I am trying to choose between a 98 WS6 A4 with purple metallic paint, 65k at a dealer for $11,000 and a 2000 WS6 A4 with the chamillion paint, 53k for $13000. Ive owned a 97 TA with purple paint (loved it) and now we own a 2004 Grand Prix with the chamillion paint. I love both colors and am in a bind...anyone have any advice?

I'd say go with the Purple Metallic 98 WS6, they are a pretty rare find. You don't see many of either color. But the Purple Metallic is an awsome color & much more rare than BG Chameleon. Just my 2 cents. Go for which ever one catches your eye more, and whichever one you think you'd be the happiest with.

If it's the same one I found at a dealership in NJ w/ 65k, it's not a real WS6. it's still a rare car but the hood does not look like it's functional, the grills are flat and painted. If that does not bother you then I'd say go for the purple one. I'd use this to bring the price down a bit
Always check the vin code sticker on the d.side door to look for the WS6 code. If it's not listed there it's not a legit WS6.
Good luck!

I think purple is about the last color I would ever pick for an f-body, but to its credit it is above gold
I think that they are rare for a good reason. The chameleon paint looks awesome, I would go for that definitely.

Well, I say get the purple since I do believe only 26 were made? And you say you love it so I don't see why not (and this is coming from a BGC owner). Can't go wrong with either one though. I doubt if you would get much more just because it is a purple, not many people would actually drive that. Buy it because you love it, not just to sell it.

In 1998, the Firebird received a "face lift" dominated by a new front fascia (now with four pop-up headlights) as well as other modifications, the most significant of which was the introduction of the latest Corvette small block V8 engine, the LS1. Initially, the color "Bright Purple Metallic" had been available, however it was discontinued due to production issues with the paint. The color was replaced with "Navy Blue Metallic," but not before a total of 12 Trans Am models (10 coupés and 2 convertibles) made it out of the factory dressed in "Bright Purple Metallic."[3] For 1998-2002 Pontiac utilized the same heavy duty brakes, steering ratios, fuel pumps and shocks (non-WS6) on both V6 and V8 models.

You can pull off the look with either when they are clean. I would get the car in better shape and also consider that 98s have some small problems with oiling and a hard to tune computer among other small differences. If it were me I would go with the chameleon just because I like the fact that its newer with 12k fewer miles on it.
