1. It looks better.

2. It keeps UV rays and harsh light from wearing your dash and interior down.

3. It keeps the car cooler in the hot summer weather.

Why wouldn't you do it aside for legal reasons? I just got my entire car done in 20%. I'm going to get a 3M clear paint protection system put on next month and I'm also going to have my front windshielt tinted at 50% and a 20% strip at the top.

a tinted windshield really sets a car off IMO....i'm so used to it when i get in a car that does not have a tinted windshield i'm like "woa...this isn't right"
I was only able to have my tint on for about two months before I got busted. Only 35% also, stupid MI laws. I see so many cars with tint, I wish the law would just change. After all, I'm just going to retint the doors anyways lol.

UV rays? Really? UV rays cause tanning, sun burns, and can lead to skin cancer. Have you experienced any of the aforementioned effects whilst standing/sitting behind a window? If you have, let me know. I'd like to avoid whatever brand or quality of glass you're using. Thanks.

I believe his point is that the glass should be blocking the uv rays either way...

Also - i love side tints and rear and such, i just think it looks retarded to have half of the front window tinted, saw it last week and couldnt believe it.....

im sure the whole front looks cool.........but isn't that dangerous?

There is no way you could see well out of that.

6% is the lowest you can get on your back in Texas. I hate that crap since 5% is the lowest in the rear in New Mexico...

6% ??? that's about stupid. I don't even know a place I could buy 6% from. I don't understand why it's not 5.

That 20% front windshield is crazy. I hope no one else tries it... like Top Gun, "you're dangerous!" I do appreciate the post about it though.

I thought about doing the top & bottom 8" or so on the front windshield, leaving somewhat around 12-18" of factory tint for visability in the middle. Or maybe even just the top 9". I don't know. what is the height of the windshield on a 4th gen?

I put 50% on my windshield and like it quite a bit. Sometimes during the day I wish it was a little darker for the sun and often at night with the xenons coming my way I also wish it was a bit darker. All in all, I don't think I'd want to push it any darker than 50% for safety reasons. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance to take some.

I would take mine to the guys who tint windows for a living but some of them will tell you they're not going to do it

I've never heard of something like that. Can you imagine how much that would cost?

I'm pretty sure Texas law on tint is 35% on front windows (pass. and driver sides) no windshield tint below the as-1 line and as dark as you want it in the back, the only ones that you can get a ticket for is the from windows and windshield.

I love the tint on my truck, a great investment to protect things in ur car

I'd never go darker than 50% on a full front windshield tint. You have to be able to see perfectly clear out of it. It would help tremendously to cut glare, it would tie in better with side tint, and keep the interior looking better longer even though it's so mild at 50% (which is some light might not even appear to be tinted).

i believe it's about 45"s or a bit less. because my tint comes in 24" rolls and 36" rolls, and when i wanted to tint the windshield of my SS i had to order either a 40" roll or 45" roll, i forget exactly, but it was something like that....

yeah it is a pain in the *** because it's so huge and the dash goes all the way down to the windshield. like my above post i had to order a roll of tint larger then normal, that's why we don't tint windshields on F-body's at my work...not worth spending a couple hundred dollars on a roll of tint that is only necessary for one specific car....however i've told friends with F-body's if they want their windshield tinted, get a few other people who want theirs done as well so it's not as big of a deal for me to have to order a huge *** roll of tint!

I'm gonna take one of the photo albums from my work tomarrow and if i can figure out how my scanner works, i'll get a few pictures of other cars with windshields tinted....
