35% on the front and 20% on the rest. I oppted not to have the strip also. I think it looks cluttered with the strip on top of the tint. No driving issues here.

Does the strip always have to end at an abrupt line? Or are there ones that fade in kinda like the stock blue tint on windshields? I think a strip would look much better if it faded out at the bottom instead of ending entirely at a certain line...

After seeing this thread I think I'm gonna get mine tinted 35% with a 5% strip across the top. The only thing I'm not sure about is how to place the inspection sticker. Cut a place in the tint? Over the tint? My final tint would be as follows:
Sides: 35%
Rear: 5%
Windshield: 35% w/ 5% strip

Just had my front windshield tinted on the GTO. I have 20% on the sides and rear and I went with a metallic based 45% tint on the entire front windshield. Wow, what a difference. Up close if you're looking you can see through the front windshield but you usually have to have light on the car to see far enough to see the "GTO" embroidered on the front seatbacks. The car already had a darker strip at the top of the front windshiled that faded down to the legal line and I just had them tint above that. It darked the factory tinted stripe and there is still a fade into the 45% so you dont really notice the windshield is tinted even though its very noticeable next to a car without a tinted windshield. Best money I've ever spent on the car so far and I know it'll cut down on glare and keep my interior cooler and in better shape for years to come.

How much did you guys pay to get your front windshields tinted BTW? $70 here and the rest of the car I used 3Ms tint and it was $230 after tax for the rest.

I had 22% on my last car on the sides and rear I would really like to try 50% on the windshield but its kind of risky around here. I liked 22% a lot if u go much darker it gets hard to see backing up at night and things.

My buddy had a white ford with limo on the windshield, and double limo on the sides and back. It looked freakin sweet, but he was an idiot to drive it at night.
20% sides
40% windshield
5% rear.

This combo I think works well because the sides are pretty dark but not like limo noticeable, and the windshield being tinted kinda darkens the whole inside of the car making the 20% look a tad darker. My point, I think it looks really good and works good without being a flourescent freakin police target

Just dont get pulled over for anything. I been pulled over with 22% on the sides and back b4 and they never said anything 2 different times. Im sure if I had 40% on the windshield also they would of noticed it.
