Exclamation Removing the RS Ground Effects

I have a '99 HO Z28 that came from the factory with the RS ground effects/spoiler package.

I'm planning to lower the car using G2 springs and Koni SA shocks later this week, and figure now is the time to remove these ground effects.

I want to make sure I dont damage them, that way I can reinstall later if I want to return the car to stock.

Anyone have any experience/tips doing this? It looks like there are the black "clips" which will just pull out. There are also some "brackets" under there with rivets (I'm assuming I'll need to drill those out). Lastly, where they terminate in the wheelwell, there are two black (rubber) fasteners. They almost look like they have a hex-head, but its just a dimple. How do these come out?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm hoping most holes that will remain wont be readily visible when the car is lowered, and wont collect dirt/rust.

Thanks!

p.s. I expected there would be other posts about this, but I did and found nothing useful.

Welp, I forged ahead with little no idea how it would turn out...

I dont think it's too bad. Plus, once it's lowered the flaws will be even less noticable. Eventually, I'll have them all cleaned up by a reputable body shop.

Of course, I am not presently removing the rear-deck spoiler and that definitely would require some paint/bodywork. Maybe I'll tackle that in a couple months!

I am in the same prediciment as you, Im working on getting mine off, luckily my car is black so the flaws are alittle easier to hide until I get the money to get the body work done.

Yes, I did. I'll try to get some pics for ya in the next cpl days. They look about the same as the front/rear. One difference is the rivets used to hold the metal brackets are steel - and they are harder to remove (I used an angle grinder). The holes that remain are a *little* more horizontal than the fronts and rears...thus they are a little more visible. Still not really a big deal to me. I'll have some cash for paint/body coming up in a couple months. I want to have the SS rear spoiler done, CME rear valence and the white stripes painted instead of being decals.

now I know why my search probably failed - people are referring to it as the sport appearance package rather than the rs package.

Here's what I'm gonna replace the rear valence with:

Default Updated Pics

Here are a couple shots of the car after G2 springs/Koni shocks and removal of the sporta appearance package. It looks ok to me, but this car doesn't see rain often so I dont worry about getting debris in there and causing rust (I know the front and rear are urethane, but the rocker panels are metal).

They point mostly down, so they aren't very visible. In fact, in the first pic on the chin of the front nose, you can barely see the "pimples" that sorta point out.

Here is a better pic of where the side skirts come off (chin pics were posted earlier in the thread).
