i dont think so all you are doing is disconnecting the switch part out of the key silenoid and adding the switch, so i would think you would be fine

Alright understand wiring harness but does #2 wire go connected to the pink wire under dash or where? I see that the #2 wire goes connected to steering wheel accessories......re-confirmation needed Thanks.

See post #7 on the first page. In the write-up, it shows the yellow wire being cut. Instead of cutting this wire, just splice into it. This means that you aren't actually changing any of the ignition wiring, just adding to it (ie your key will still work if you wanted to use it). I highly doubt that anything will happen to the remote start since the wiring is not changing as I mentioned before, but there's no way to be 10000000% sure unless you try it.

Ok, I've got an Idea, I want to do the push button start thing but keep the car looking very stock, use the cig lighter as the button. I've seen a vid on YouTube (Here) I'm thinking i would have to replace the cig lighter with just the hot plug (so the lighter doesn't stay in the down/starting position) how would I do this?

If I were gonna do this mod, that's what I'd wanna do... That way if you don't have alarm system, it get really confusing for whoever is trying to steal your car.

I'm sorry but I would rather start my car this way... anyone know how to install one of these?

On topic I think the push button thing would be awesome if you didnt have to put the key in and it was like the benz style as previously stated.

I know this is an old-*** thread... but what is the purpose of the relay that gets added in? What does it do? If I were to use a momentary toggle switch instead of a button, would I still need the relay?

if you dont use a relay you will burn out your switch very quickly

So is it the relay that's actually doing the 'work' and the switch/button is just telling the relay what to do?

Sorry - I'm a zero when it comes to electrics.

Pretty much...you use a relay so that you can put a switch in a high current circuit without needing a huge, beefy switch.

When wiring in a push button starter on these cars, you have to tap in to some 12 gauge wiring - I'm not sure how much current flows through these wires during startup, but they wouldn't be 12 gauge wire if it wasn't required, and that size of wire can handle a fair amount of current. If you tried running that current through a switch like the one from a Honda S2000, you'd probably fry it in a big damn hurry. If you use the switch to activate the relay instead, the relay takes all of the load, but you still retain the functionality of the switch without having to make it huge.

i bought my 2002 Camaro SS LE with the push button start already installed. its wired up so the key has to be on, then you push the button and boom. however the key switch will not start the car.

how hard would it be to switch my current push button (ignited performance, non illumnited http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Engin...item56433e25a4 ) to a honda S2000 push button?

all i really want to do is change out the button, not the wiring or anything else. the text is starting to wear off the current button.
