if you have one like my parents, a steam cleaner with the hand tool works wonders... Theirs is a hoover, you wouldn't believe all the dirt/mud that comes out when you steam it. Changed my carpet from dingy brownish grey to a nice charcoal color lol.

Being a former carpet cleaner, steam cleaning is the way to go if you can get some kind of unit to rent for a decent price. Putting soap in carpet is not good unless you have the power to get ALL of it back out. What does soap attract? Dirt. Leaving soap in is not good. The carpet might look good for a while but it will get filthy fast and soap residue is next to impossible to take out without a professional unit.

You can rent one from some grocery stores. I know the Giant near my house rents them. Not sure on pricing though. I can't imagine it's real expensive for like an hour or something.

well i def. would not pressure wash your carpets. I did that to mine and the fabric fell off in strings. I think that a steam clean is the most effective way to go. Blue coral works but not as good. Kind of like going from a porter cable to a hand wax... youll notice a differenc

You can rent the small one for like $20 with the hose attachments for 24 hours. It really does a great job. Buy a small bottle of their cleaner too and use the rest to do your apartment, house, whatever while you have it.

thats their site to see where the closest place is to your house it pick it up. they are kinda big so u might have to like set it in the front seat. so bring a sheet or something to set it on. ive never put one in my car but i work at a grocery store and helped people try to put it in their car.
