Nice I got a rotary but its a older black n decker and doesnt have the set speeds I want a new 1. I just got my PC in and cant wait to try it. Where do you get your meguiars products you can PM the place if you like. What pad do you use with the #83 do you think a orange LC pad would work good then a white pad with the #80? 1 more thing how does the hitachi compare to the makita?

Which pad with 83? It depends on the job. Sometimes a yellow Megs pad, sometimes a burgundy Meg's cutting pad, sometimes an orange LC pad. Not sure the cutting level of the white pad.
My favorite combo:
1 pass Orange LC - #83
1 pass Yellow Megs - #83
1 pass Yellow Megs - #80
1 pass Beige Megs - #82
Equals breathtaking results.... Keep in mind this is with the PC.
Only difference i know between Hitachi and Makita is the Hitachis is less expensive, longer warranty, and the unit is lighter. Was a no-brainer for me.

Here are some of my first experiments with the rotary. I stopped by the body shop and picked up some throw away fenders and such.
before:
AFTER (rotate 90 deg)
-used 2 passes of Megs #83 on a yellow Meg's pad
before:
AFTER
-with 3 passes (burgundy megs pad with 83, yellow megs pad with 83, yellow megs pad with 80)
before:
AFTER
-2 passes of just #80 on a yellow pad
*poor repaint job on that last fender*
Good results, but I will get better. I am reasonably happy with good results on my first time on the rotary.
