get a Magnaflow muffler off ebay(make sure it's poloished stainless and 3" inlet, dual 2.5" out. I have some Z28 style polished stainless tips i'll sell ya. They have 2.5" inlets and are boxed and rolled like the stock Z28 tips. They are brand new and would let ya have them for $50 shipped or you could get the tips i have on my car

P.S. or if you want to spend the $$ to get the tips on my car in the above picture go to here. It was $100 shipped or so for a pair

and also a just adding a muffler and tips now would be just fine If you want to keep a tight budget then just do that. it cost me $100 to put my muffler, new highflow cat and tips on my car. I brought in all the parts but some shops HATE that. just find one shop that you like or hear good things about and have him quote ya. I got my Magnaflow muffler(polished stainless) for $135 shipped on ebay brand new and my tips for $100. all in all i spent maybe $350-400 install included...

Okay so 3" inlet and 2.5" is what the factory muffler is? So it should bolt right up?

PS: i'm not a fan of the dual tips. i like the single ones much better. thanks for the help guys.

So all i need to do is find a muffler with 3" inlet to match up to the stock mid pipe, and then find me some tips with the same inlet as the muffler out? Please correct me if i'm wrong, i'm a car audio legend but a car auto retard. lol

i believe the mid pipe is also 3" but i'm not sure if the muffler will just slide over the pipe. It should because i think the new muffler inlet is 3" on the inside and the stock exhaust is 3" on the outside of the pipe so it can slide right over the top. I would have a shop do it as if you buy just a muffler there will be no hangers to hook to the body. They'll have to weld those in. The stock muffler outlet is like 2.25" inches so you'll have a bigger outlet size but that's good And another reason to go to the exhaust shop is they'll have to cut and bend the pipes running from the muffler to the tips as you won't want to reuse the stock pipes. Unless you don't want to go to the exhaust shop to get it put on, you'll have to get a bolt on catback system as you can just unbolt and pull the stock pipe after the cat-converter and bolt up the new system. i like to have my stuff welded but it's up to you and what you want. If your not good with the mechanical stuff as you said you may want the shop to do it.

I'm not really into the square tips. I want some big round ones. You were saying that the muffler is welded onto the mid pipe, not bolted? In my 95 it was bolted on..

it may be but my '00 V6 was welded from the factory. i'm not sure then. You'll have to crawl under and look where the pipe enter's the muffler and look. I know it's bolted at the Cat though...

I'll probably just get some 16" ZR-1 reps since i already got new tires and i'm not made of money. Wheels, exhaust, and maybe a Lid are the first things on my agenda.
