Default 69 SS emblem on your billett grill??

OK, I've seen a ton of pictures of guys with the 1969 Camaro SS emblem mounted on their billett grill. I now have the necessary parts in hand (the grill and the 1969 SS emblem), however (as you all know) the bend on the emblem does not match the bend on the grill. I tried to bend it to fit and it snapped in half. Anyone have any tips or tricks on how in the heck to mount the emblem securely to the grill? I've seen pics from "RoastemSS" and "Summit2345" and it looks just like what I'm trying to do.

Thanks guys!

I have a 69 camaro emblem on mine. Yes the bend does not go with the bend for the grill. I cut the tabs and used jb weld to make it work. I belive a 69 chevelle emblem fits better.

Great thought. Pardon my ignorance, however what type of tool did you use to cut the tabs off? I presume maybe a dremel or hacksaw and then grind it down until smooth?

Thanks!

I tried to bend mine and it broke also so I used the JB Weld to attach some small clamps to the each of the S's so I could position it how I wanted it and I can remove it if I want to.

That is sharp and a great idea. I'll go buy a dremel and JB weld today and will have fun with this tonight! Do you have any pics of the small clamps you attached to the back? I could always JB weld on a couple smaller bolts and use a nut and washer to secure it to the grill, however if you found something better, I'd be down with trying it!

The 67-68 RS/SS emblem is the one you want if I remember correctly. If you get the right emblem it will match flush with the grill. I used 3M tape on mine 2 yrs ago and it hasn't moved.

Thanks for the info guys!

I went to Lowe's and picked up larger lock nuts and a few washers and used the lock nuts to attach each piece of the emblem to the grill, used 3M mounting tape on the back side to help give a more secure mount and to counter vibrations and then coated the top of the lock nut and washer with JB weld, so I don't think there's much chance it's going to fall off now! I finished it off by trimming the mounting pegs down with my Dremel and I'll see how the mounting of the actual grill goes this evening!

I've said it before... The '69 SS emblem comes to a point. You want the RS/SS emblem.

Also... I don't know about other places, but if you buy it from Classic Industries it will come with lock nuts which you can use to mount it to the grille. Just trim down the posts after you mount the emblem to the grille.

I used a couple of '67 emblems, but got sick of the black paint chipping between the SSs. I searched and finally found that '72 Chevelle SS fender emblems are the same size and are two seperate Ss without the black background. I stick them on with some epoxy. They're easy to get off when I want to polish the grill back up.
