New Exterior Window Tint!

Ok.

Well the other day I was changing channels and saw Unique Whips? and they had a Lambo and they were applying window tint on the outside of the glass??? Is this something new or what is going on? Never seen this.

Didnt see the show, but they usually place the tint on the outside of the window so it can be cut to fit. then when finished they remove it, peel the backing off and place on the inside. My neighbor just asked the same question. He glanced in the shop while having his done and seen them applying it to the outside...and was like wtf

well I kinda thought the same thing but he was using the sqeejee and everything and going to town on it....

I've never heard of doing it on the outside. When they did mine they do it on the outside and then peel it off, remove the clear sheet and put it on the inside. That way they know it's gonna fit perfect.

They always fit the tint on the outside at least all the cars that I've owned have been done that way and they do use the squeegge even though it's on the outside.

Yeah it's called shrinking it. If the glass has any contour to it this is done to help the tint lay flatter on the surface and less likely for bubbles/wrinkles when it's applied to the inside.
