I don't see how carbon fiber is rice as hell. Depending on what the hood looks like will determine that. Now if he was put carbon fiber vinyl overlay over the hood to make it look like it is carbon fiber...THEN that would be ricer.

I believe the NEW ZO6 is made from "carbon fiber" material to keep lighter. And thats not rice, NOW IS IT? In respond the original question, there's no picture. If its an SS look a like hood it probably is not functional if that's what you're asking. I don't know of anyone with a Camaro and this hood. I know Evo's with this type of material made hoods and the look ugly at close. Cheap really.

yeah they didnt show a picture thats why i didnt know if it would look good. ive been wanting to do this but id like to see my product before id buy it. and to the ricer quote--thanks for the comment.... i need all comments negative and positive... i like the idea of it bc it goes with my car, i have carbon fiber gauge cluster and a very few other things under the hood, so it kinda goes with my theme... i like cf. but i dont over do it at all

maybe you could pm DRSITES and see what he has to say. I'm not sure if it is the same hood but I had seen this several months ago.

A guy i know bought an RKsport SS spoiler and the fitment looks pretty decent, but now its starting to bow up in the corners.. If you want a different hood, i say check with VFN and just get a fiberglass one, the fitment is great and the looks will always be the same .. Just my .02 so take it for what its worth.

just get a unique SS hood, they make a number of altered styles that look good depending on the rest of the car. i personally dont think carbon fiber hood is rice if you can make it look good. it's only rice if you have that and a huge wing, some 24s, a fart can, blah blah you know.. google images, try it

Default Check out Suncoast Creations

The predator hood looks good on these cars. Suncoast Creations is the name of the company I believe they are out of SOCAL . I think I spent about 700 on mine but it is well worth it.

FAKE carbon fiber is ricey. Leaving the entire hood unpainted may also be a little "ricey." However, either painting it all, or leaving some showing is absolutely not ricey. That SS hood with the transparent "manta stripe" looks good.

1. The 2004 Z16 Corvette (CE Z06) had a carbon fiber hood, and I think part of the striping was transparent. EDIT: Hood is CF, stripes are fake CF

2. C6 Z06 has some carbon panels, they're just painted.

3. Enzo Ferrari anyone?

4. Saleen S7?

The list goes on, ad nauseum...

I'll skip the treatise on the strength vs. weight of fiberglass and carbon composites for now, but there is a reason people choose carbon...

i was wanting to get a CF hood and leave the scoop unpainted....i've wanted to for a long time, but i'm not now. i can't find one that fits at all. and the ones that look OEM (i.e. no extra scoops, vents, etc...) require using hood pins instead of reusing OE hinges....and that's just no good

Carbon fiber is no more than a light weight material. What you do with it determines if it is rice or not. There is ricey **** made out of fiberglass and aluminum too. Does that mean if you use it you are rice? Cause we're screwed then!
