Trans Am/Firebird Lexan Projector adapters..No 56K

My first write up used projectors that were much too small, I really had no
idea how little light they actually produced compared to the larger sized
projectors designed for actual headlights. The amount you pay for projectors
varies as does what comes with it. I opted for FX35 Bi-Xenon projectors this
time with D2S HID bulb.

As I am sticking to my "try not to cut the stock stuff if you can get away
with it" plan I began by trimming alot of the excess aluminum off of the
projectors so they would fit into the bucket for the headlights (dremel and
cutting wheels) Ended up with this

(the crown part you see on the bottom of this piece actually had to be
removed as well since it wouldn`t allow the black trim piece to fit over it)
With all the extra pieces removed it left openings on the bottom and top of
the projector.

I used some pieces of stainless steel to seal them up along with some high
temp epoxy.
then had to cut a piece of Lexan to fit this projector and the black
retaining square that holds the projector in.

test fit

My projectors came with a Bi-Xenon option, didn`t mean a second bulb, just
that when you hit the Hi Beams it lowers the shroud inside the projector and
raises the cutoff in your light higher to see further down the road. Since I
didn`t need this I had to cut it out and save space, but it left the
question of how to keep the same cutoff

since the simplest solutions can be the best answers, I just decided to cut
the metal bands attached to the shroud and bend them to fit the ridge on the
bracket that holds the shroud to it

holds it in perfect position, no issues with movement either.
Next came test fitting into the bucket....and wouldn`t you know it the only
problem is the hole in the bucket is too small to fit the back side of the
projector(the part the bulb goes into) in. So I had to cut the back of the
bucket (sorry F-body gods)

Just keep thinking to yourself...you will never see it after its
installed. Plus should you ever go back to stock, the square headlights fit right back in the same place.
So now that its put together

I figured it looked kind of ugly....so decided to get some mesh and dress it
up a bit....

and here is final product on the car(I know the Hi-Beams are missing)

and some of the light output

Once you have the actual projector piece done, the install is about the
same as a bulb, I just had to remove everything to fit it together. And of
course the HID Ballast from WWW.LEDGAUGES.COM (sponsor on here)
is still kicking out the power for this retrofit....
For those concerned about what it looks like at night, those will be up tomorrow, batteries died in the camera

Its really more of a way to show that it can be done...I like the problem solving bit, and it was a challenge to make it fit. Anyone looking to do the same could get the silver mesh or white ...really however they wanted to do it. I`m not trying to sell it, just wanted to show another way to get it done with as little fuss as possible. I did think about putting it in the foglight area, but just seemed more challenging to do it this way and still keep the pop up ability for those that like it. Thanks for the comments.

Kudos.
Kudos.
SCRWS6,
Nice Work.
99'CajunFirehawk157,
Why would you put it in the fog light area? These are headlights. The fog light position is too low for headlights (and violates lighting regulations too).

Very sweet, I definately want to see some more pics when you get this up. Im so sick of my headlights on the TA, they dont put out enough light, so maybe this could be a way to go.

Kinda grainy, but gives you the idea.

I went with 6500K, the coloring is awesome.
