I'm most postive that the motor is riveted in. I had mine done and it looked like a bitch to do. They replaced the rivets with bolts so that next time it will be easier. If your going to do it yourself I would take some pics on how its setup in there before riping it out and can't get it back in. Just a thought. Sorry I didn't help out much. Good Luck!!

hey Wam - save yourself alot of time and questions and look at this detailed manual:
http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html
Basically you put a big drill bit on the rivet heads and the soft aluminum goes away. Make sure you brace the window... all the details are on the web pages.
I did my passenger side door 2 years ago, I have to do my driver side now...

Ive replaced about 6 of the bastards and it gets easier everytime . Just be sure when you put the new one in you tighten the little bolts that are supplied with the new motor as tight as you can cause I had one back off and I had to pull it all back apart.

Thanks so much!! It is done and buttoned up. Z-mod, where are you from? I'd like to at least buy you a beer. You saved me countless hours and frustration on this project.
Thanks again,
