Default Window Tint, Any advice

Looking at tinting the windows. I want to be legal on the sides & dark as hell on the back window. Any type better than another? What to avoid?

Another thing, a local place is advertising lifetime warranty.

I would go with 15% all around. I would also paint the dots on the hatch first down to the first defrost line.

Or have them put vinyl over the dots. Whatever you do dont just tint over them, it wont look good.

If you are in Cali, this guy has no idea what hes talking about, the limit here is zero, ie no tint allowed period without a prescription. That said, I just went 35% on the sides.

LLumar makes a really nice tint. I have what they call the platinum tint on my car and it's great. It's only 18 percent but looks mirror.

I never liked that type of tint at all. Im getting my hatch tinted next week 5%. So do i just tell the guy to put vinyl over the dot matrix and then tint over it? OR stop at the vinyl?

including a stripe across the top...or do you mean the whole front window because that is illegal in every state (please correct me if I am wrong)

a 4" stripe across the top IS legal, but any tint covering below that or the whole window is illegal. all the states have different laws. and for back windows too. in michigan its any instead of like 5% for back window so i can paint the whole back window black and it would be legal

Only advice I can give is take it to a pro. If you're trying to do it yourself, forget it.

Try VA if you think 35% is bad. 50% is the legal limit here, I rode with 15% on the sides and 5% on the back for about a year or so and got 2 tickets, now I have 50% on the sides an 5% on the back still.

When I was in VA it was 25 rear and 35 sides. Must have changed.

Must have, because I have the tickets and the judge/cop said it was 50% both times, haha. From what every cop here has told me the back glass doesn't matter, it's just the sides. Hence why my back is still 5%.

Definitly taking it to a pro. I just wanted to know if there was one brand better than another. Like 3M or something. They said something about computer cut & lifetime warranty.
