Default My interior make over has begun...

Ever wonder what the racing seats from Auto Zone or Checker look like in our cars??? Or how "good" they are?

Well, I opted for a "budget" interior make over, and went out and bought a set I picked up an LG Motorsports harness bar, and a set of harnesses off of a friend, fabbed up the brackets (out of the supplied brackets that came with the seats...) and eureka!!

I have just over 400 dollars in all of it, about the cost of a set of higher end seats alone...

Do I like them? Hell yeah! IMO, they are a well worth the price for them (at about 125.00 a seat) I stand about 5'7 and love the way they feel. By modding the brackets that came with the seats, they sit about at factory height, the driver is perfect, the passenger sits about 1/3 of an inch higher, no more. I used some flat stock for the bracket modifications... Here are some pics of it all done. They are actually pretty comfy, not too hard. They feel as secure as any other "racing seat" I have sat in, however, I have yet to sit in a 5-6 hundred dollar Corbeau seat...

all in all, I recommend them to any one that cant really afford anything more expensive... what do you guys think??? I think I need to change my enterior color to black...

Actually, I did not throw them on a scale, but during the "pick up test" they are nearly the same, they feel a bit lighter... One thing is for sure, the fancy behemoth that is the electric motor under the driver seat weighed a ton!

The stock seats w/out the brackets weigh about as much as the new seats w/brackets, for sure.

Well, they are the Auto Zone/Checker seats.... They run about 125 a piece. no model specific for T/A and Camaro, just the basic "racing seats" that they sell.

For the most part, I still need to paint the brackets, and alter them a little more. I plan on taking some high res pics, and measurements to boot, I'll even make a write up and all that. It was actually pretty simple, at first, we retro fitted the factory brackets to the new seats, but they sat way too high. The alterations we made to the brackets that came with the seats was very simple.

Thanks for the compliments every one!

Looks great, sounds like you got a hell of a deal on that harness bar too. A friend of mine just did racing seats in his Z28. Way more supportive over the stockers.
