Hey Redtail........
I've seen dozens of filled letters on vettes so I think you should be okay with alittle bondo in those letters. I've painted my frc's with regular enamel paint and haven't had any issues. After installing them I went on a long cruise, then came home and felt them. There were quite warm, not hot, below the raised ridges near the bottom closest to the headers, but barely luke warm on the top half were the letters are located. In fact my intake manifold was only luke warm. There's not much heat on the top of my LS1, only around the exhaust.
Good luck.

Kinda pricey but you could also get custom ones

yeah i've been tossing this idea around because i wanna do a custom cover and theme under the hood but i'm scared to do it to my stockers because i don't have any extra's lying around to put in if i f*ck up. i think Bondo would be ok though. It can flex a bit before it'll crack and it resists head well. How does it hold on a black car in sunlight. you know that **** gets hot but it doesn't pop off. Just my $.02~Cole~

You can always use our FRC Strips for an easy way to cover the "Corvette" lettering. You can also get almost anything etched on them http://store.specializedstainless.co...t/Detail?no=97

the resin is a good idea... i wouldnt use bondo, to be honost.. its not to be used over 1/8 inch, or itll crack easy and doesnt stick well, use kitty hair, its a mix of bondo and fiber glass,or the resin use that to "fill" and bondo smooth it out.. you wanna keep bondo as thin as possible expsecially on these thin plastic covers.. ive done tons of covers for alot of 3800 guys and just recently did some frc for a vette it aint smooth out but ill show it off,

Regular Bondo product is NOT recommended. Some may have used it, but there are much better products to use.
Searrch, 'what to fill covers' or similar terms & you'll find this has been discussed many times.
Evercoat 100888 or 100891, Bondo Dynalite, 'kittyhair', & NAPA makes a flexible bumper filler also. But I'd have to search to find that number, ...

Go to a CarQuest...they carry 3M products. Tell them you need the flexable plastic filler. Its a 2 part thing and $50 I think? Thats what I used...its basically made for that!
