Default Steve? Progress on the Z069 Camaro?

Just wondering what the current status is? Did you fly out to Louisiana and check her out? Test drive? Whats the dealio?

Still have those HRE's off the old car?

1. Status of 69 Camaro, after careful consideration I decided to save the $$ and NOT fly to LA to see the car. I have a ton of pics of the car and have talked with the shops that did the work. Also, the family that is selling the car for John seem like "good people"..

2. Car is now paid for and arrangements have been made with an enclosed carrier (Exotic Transport).. cost to ship the car here was $1185 total. 69 should be picked up by this Friday.

3. My SS has been paid for in full and awaiting transport to NY. The HRE's have been sold and the car now sports chrome 18x9.5 Z06 wheels and stock tail lights (also sold)..

So thats where it all stands.. I should have the car in less than 2 weeks and then the fun begins. Ive been researching LOTS of parts like 5 speed OD tansmissions and tilt wheels (etc, etc).. I will be pumping about $7000 into the car as soon as it arives

The new website is moving along (still much work to be done) but here it is:

http://www.z069.us

Thanks for asking Tony.. Hey I need to put down LS1tech on my site as a sponsor

Let me know when you want to upgrade to LS1 f-body brakes (front and rear). I have bought just about everything to complete the conversion (calipers, mounting adapter plates for the front, disk brake spindles, rearend backing/mounting plates). Since I am getting the SSBC kit, I'll probably sell all of that stuff. All you would need are some sweet Eradispeed rotors for the front and rear.

hmmmm..

Well the car has front disc brakes but read discs are TOP of the list.. I will also be getting the Hydrotech power assist unit since I doubt the 427 makes enough vacume for a regular system to work well..

Im also still negotiating with Wilwood on sponsorship

Good luck on Wilwood, I had a sponsorship lined up through them but the Promotions/PR guy was horrible at returning calls. I got tired of playing phone tag and never getting any answers.

Hmmm... you may want to consider hiring VIZ motorsports to make up some custom badges for that thing...

Many shops/manufacturers will provide free or discounted parts in return for magazine/internet/show coverage of their products on your vehicle. Of course, you need a show-worthy vehicle and the availability to attend their shows and magazine shoots. You simply email or call the shops/manufacturers of your choice and ask them. Most of them will reject the offer, but you might luck out with a couple. You need to have something to offer, otherwise there won't be any interest.

Carl, the only 427s that came in '69 Camaros were the ultra-rare COPOs, ZL1s and some Yenkos. They didn't make an SS 427. It was either SS-350 or SS-396 in '69.

Interesting... I actually didnt know that Tony

Still.... the 427 is the ultimate motor (nicknamed the porcupine motor because of the valve placement on the heads).

My boss just pulled up today at work with a '69 Camaro with a 327 and 327 badges on the sides of it. He told me it is an SS because of the x-11 on the vin. I am confused because you said there was either a SS-350 or SS-396 in '69, but he says his is a SS-327. I am really confused right now? Help me out here tony

BTW, i was really jealous when he pulled up in it.

You could not get a 327ci in 1969.

Last year was 1968. I had two old Camaros, and one of them was a 1968 327ci, 2bbl, powerglide.

In 1969 you could get a 307ci, 350ci, and then a big block based on a 396ci with a few option in terms of compression and cylinder head casting.

this is the front end he has. Except he has the hardtop.

Sorry for the big pic. I will get rid of it after you see what front end it has. He has that front end except it that it says 327 on the sides.
