Where are the 6 bolts at to remove the back seat? I plan on doing this A.S.A.P. thanx.

I just did it two days ago. It is really easy, get some Torque bits, and there are three screws on the plastic piece that holds the seat belt in place (up to on the back support), but they have thread sealer (or what ever it is called) so it takes a little while to unscrew them. The bolts on the bottom just screw off with some pliers, I did that first. I didn't remove the seatbelts, or the bucket part of the seats, just the rear back support, I'll do that next weekend. hope this was a little help

I started to take out the back rest part of the back seat and I started unscrewing the two bolts on the plastic thing with my allen wrench by hand. I was going for a while and it finally stripped. I want that back seat out! What do I do now? Can i still get it out??

Try and use either a crescent wrench or a pair of pliers. I don't think it's that tight. You were supposed to use a star driver not a allen wrench, it think. Next time- when it starts to slip and you can see the metal on the bolt start to round off STOP!

Jeremy, I think I'm just gonna wait until you come back down to Houston because I don't wanna mess anything up. I had no problem with the bucket part of the seat though.

There are male and female Torx fasteners on these GM vehicles. Clean you glasses next time and buy some Good Quality Torx bits because some of the fasteners are TIGHT. Since you already did the damage I'd try a BIG Vise Grip. The fasteners on the seats are large and torqued to a high value to keep you in the vehicle in case of a wreck.

Not only are they torqued to a high value, but they have a nice coat of locktite on them too. They just keep comin out easier every time you pull the seat out because there's less and less locktite remaining.

The buckets of the rear seats are the easiest part! There is a bolt in the bottom of the seat in front, facing towards the rear. I believe it is a 13 or 15mm, but it has been awhile since I've pulled the buckets out. Anyway, there is one bolt for each bucket... right in the middle under the pad in the front. Pull that, and they just lift right up.

I pulled the buckets out today with ease. It was a 15mm socket. I started to remove the back rest with an allen wrench by hand and now i think i stripped one of the bolts on the plastic piece that the seatbelt goes through. What should i do now?

What are torx bits and where can i get them at? Can I just use a star ended allen wrench????

It is a "Torx" bit. An allen key is useless and wil ruin the fastener.

In the past I have used a Dremel with cut-off
disc to cut a flathead screwdriver slot in some
"tamper-proof" Torx heads. If you run out of other
options this may work for you (you need to make
the slot clean and straight so you don't "cam
out" but it ain't rocket science).

Why don't you just remove the seat belts along with the back seat. Pull the rear panels off and unbolt the seat belt retractors, I think it's 18mm or 19mm, it will save a few more pounds as well

I took the bolts off the plastic piece of the rear seat belt holders on both sides. Now what do I do on the bottom? There are 2 things on the bottom. There's a star shaped bolt and another bolt that looks like it could come off with a socket and ratchet. Which one do i take off and what size tool will i need? thanx.

Oh buddy, I told you two nights ago they where torx bolts and had thread lock so they were a pain in the *** to take off, I feel bad, I hope you'll be able to get them off alright, on the up side, if you ever decide to put the car back to stock (yeah right) I'm sure the local Chevy dealer has extra bolts. good luck

i bought me a set of those torx bits today and got the bolts removed off of the plastic part that the seat belt goes through. I just don't know what to do now? Which bolt do i unscrew on the bottom?

There is only one bolt on the bottom of the seat. There is one for each bucket, right in the middle, just below the cushion in the front. It's kinda buried in the floorboard carpet, look around you'll find it.

Richie -> You can't remove the whole seat belt Assembly w/o a torx bit either. Look at the other end of the seat belt, not the reel, but where it anchors.
