Default Those 'cheap' ebay HID kits

I was wanting some HID lights and was looking on Ebay and had some questions.

Are the "xenon 9006 HID bulbs" real HID lights? They are like $15 bucks and thought that sounded entirely to good to be true.

There is a 8000k 9006 HID conversion kit for less than $100. Here is a link

Would something like that work or would I still need to look higher up in the price range?

The new projector halo headlights are sold with an HID light kit, anyone know the quality of the HID lights the come with it?

I'd rather spend $200 on the ledgauges kit and not worry about replacing the ballast.

Here's my 10000K setup. Got them both on ebay for about $175 each. 2 years and still going strong!! And no oncoming drivers flashing me with their lights.

I bought mine from him and had to work on them because the wiring kept shorting out. The wires weren't connected well at all, I had to open them up and resoder everything in order to make them work.
Next time I will go with the eBay ones.

You gotta be careful with playing the cheaper is better game...especially when it comes to HIDs. As a general rule, if someone's selling true HID bulbs for less than say $50, I've found that it's ALWAYS just the bulbs and is never then entire HID kit (bulbs, ballasts - sometimes ignitors, and is truly plug 'n play). Typically, I've found that even reputable sellers will sell their HID bulbs for no less than $120 a pair. True, they're becoming more popular, even for our F-bodies. But if someone says they can sell you legitimate HID bulbs for less than $50 AND they have that blue tint on the tips of the bulbs, they're FAKE. Shop wisely, and you should be okay.

Those are halogen bulbs with a blue coating. The light output will be whiter (sometimes bluer), but the actual output will be dimmer.

The K number is the color temp. It is not the brightness (well not directly, I'll explain). 4000K - 5000K is the brightest and whitest. Continuing up the color scale, the light gets bluer then purpler and the lumens output (the actual measurement of light) decreases. In other words, 6000K, 8000K, 10000K HID kits are dimmer than a 4300K HID kit. Our eyes are least sensitive to blue light. Blue light also scatters more easily. In the end, we can see better with a 4300K HID kit for many reasons.

So go ebay or no ebay? A $150 kit doesn't sound bad but I would just assume buy the Halo HID projection headlights. Are the lights that the new projection Halo units have actually HID or just knock offs?

no these kits include GE bulbs WITH ballasts, and fused wiring harnesses. $40 + $30 shipping. so 70 for 2 ballasts, 2 bulbs, and 2 harnesses with fuses. even if i have to replace everything 3 times, it is still cheaper. (and you wont have to replace these) they are very good quality.
