Default Couple interior pieces painted....

They are not installed yet because I'm dyeing my dash that has gotten horribly faded/stained over the years from the sun. I thought I'd post them up before I put them in because I am so pleased with how they turned out!! My new painter/friend painted these for me last week and I picked them up yesterday. Originally they were pewter but I'm redoing the whole interior...slowly though as money permits and these are the first start. I am amazed at how sweet these came out. I was going to do them myself but he offered to paint them for me. I know I could never achieve that kind of clear gloss from any rattle can clear! His name is Mark and he's the owner of Sam's Custom Autobody in Damascus MD. He'll also be painting the hood with the flames in June I can hardly wait!!

Oh btw this is the same orange that's on the front of the car..Orange Rot Metallic/pearl. It's been raining all day so I couldnt get any decent pics....you should see this in the sun!

Those look amazing! I have some auto paint and a paint gun and had intended on painting some pieces to replace my CF stuff. Will you ask him if he sanded down the pieces or built them up with primer and sanded the primer down? That would help a lot. Those will make your interior look absolutely amazing

Thanks everyone for the compliments . Jarrud I can take the piece up with me this weekend and get the price for you. I can then give you a call and let you know what he said and based on what I tell you he says I can leave it there for him to paint . If you could drop the piece off to the house that would be great. If you still work in Manassas then our house isnt very far from you at all.

SVT THIS....I actually had already used a primer filler to get the pieces smooth prior to painting them pewter so that part was done already.

Looks good. What are you using to dye your dash?? I might go that route instead of attempting to wrap it in leather.

Hey Mike....thanks . I'm going to use Duplicolor Vinyl dye but have heard SEM may be actually better. SEM comes with great accolades from this Hotrodding board I post on which is where I am getting most of my help/information from.

http://www.yourautotrim.com/semdye.html A place that sells it

And the manufacturers website

I was gonna suggest you use SEM dye. It's specifically made for what your wanting to do. I used it on my headliner. Here are a couple pics. One before & one after. Also note, I can run my hand over it & nothing at all comes off on my skin. Also the flash makes it look lighter than it really is in the after pic.

Before

After

I already decided after I posted that to use SEM so I'll be ordering that today. It's pretty easy to use right? I may do my carpets too. There is a company that will custom mix any color you want of the SEM vinyl/leather dye and put it in the aerosol for you btw

Yea, I believe they have a little different paint for carpet than the vinyl for the dash. But you can get it all from the same company. I bought mine at a local auto upholstry shop.

Nothing local here to get SEM....looked online for a supplier . Now I just wonder if I should go with the Landau black which looks like a deep black or the Flat black which looks exactly like I have already. Since I'm doing the seats in black and orange ultraleather and door panels the same, I may go with the Landau..what do you think?

You definetly don't want it too shiney with it being the dash or your gonna have a hell of a time seeing in direct sunlight. I'd go with a flatter black, low gloss. It'll look more realistic over a shiney finish also.
