Stabilizing when you have enough current is one thing for a capacitor.
it would cut off the current and make the light flash if it didn't have enough... that's how they work... they fill all the way... and then once there's a little less current, they dump the energy.
which works when the alternator stumbles for headlights... but you have to get right back on providing current or they shut off.
they would be a good idea to have, but wouldn't solve the problem?

i snapped a quick pic while i was working on other stuff. here's the stock convertible trunk light. i put a blue power led in place of the original bulb. it's def bright enough. power comes from the taillight harness if i remember right, and you'd need to have that little square cut out for it to slip in there.
