Side Exhaust.
I have been thinking about this for some time now. I like the way the Roush Mustangs look with the side skirts and exhuast ports. Anyone done this? If so, any pics? Or is it a bad idea all together?

I don't think anyone has brought it out like the roushe. There have been a few exit the side under the ground effects though. Kinda looks ghetto on our cars since it has to hang so low to fit under the sides.

Look forward to seeing those pics Toonz, theblur, I agree that having them come out under the side skirts would look ghetto. I have thought about going to a body shop and getting a quote on having a cutout made. Keep the comments comin!

I think Onyx on here had side exit on his car. It wasnt the normal side exit like what mustangs have, it was more of a pipe out the side i believe. Looked alright, i still prefer the out the back look, or dumps.

Oh yeah, it can be done, especialy if you are running duals. The only problem with running the tips through the side skirts is the heat that would certainly melt those plastic pieces; but with a little aluminum inside lining and on the edges of the cutout, I'm sure it would work.
Best thing would be to mold some skirts in Fiber glass and specificaly design them for that.
That would be Sweeeet

I've never seen it done this way. Like everyone else, I've only seen pipes going under the ground FX. It's definately going to be a challenge, but one where I'll get much satisfaction after completion

If done right, I think it would look awesome too. Kind of like the old 69 Vette's with side pipes. But what would us T/A guys do with the openings in the back for the tips? It would look bad to leave them open.
Any thoughts?

Re: Side Exhaust.
Actually this is one of my upcoming projects. I'm going to use stock side skirts from a Camaro with a sport appearance package. I'm not sure on what I'm going to do as far as a heat protectant, but I do know it is a factor. All of this will be done in the spring, so I've got some time to think it over.

A thought just crosse my mind. For the heat factor: How about wrapping the tube right before the tip with header wrap? Then fabricate an Alum lip for the side skirt cutout.
This should reduce radiating tube temp.
What do you think?

It does look bad to leave them open . I put grilles in the back of mine, They don't photograph very well, but they look ok in person - at least a lot better than it did when they were open. I'm kicking around ideas to make them look better. It'll do till I find something better

Here's what I'm going to do about the rear problem, but I'm thinking it's going to require swapping in a Firebird bumber instead of my TA one?
