How do you paint an engine bay? Do you take everything out?

I used some U 9566 sebring silver spray paint and off the shelf spray can clear coat. Cleaned everything really good and move everything out of the way that needed to be. Its not all perfect but where the new paint is its layed out well with no imperfections. I like it, it was cheap and easy. This winter ill take everything out and do it right.
