I just claybar'd mine for the first time on Friday, and followed it with a coat of NXT 2.0. The shine is unbelievable, and I'm amazed at the smoothness of the paint, it's like glass, but slicker.

I used the NXT liquid, and it went on and off very easily.

 

wow. not trying to pick on you Paul, but that might be the single worst piece of advice I have ever read in this forum.

 

couple of your steps are backwards. NXT then #26 is the correct order.

sealant then carnauba, not the other way around .. if you put the carnauba on first, it prevents the sealant from properly bonding, and in the case of the NXT, it is actually removing some of the #26 when you are applying it.

 

I'm not sure the order matters with Meguiars products. ALL their products are designed to be compatible. They also use oils to help to adhere their waxes and sealants to the paint.

I was wrong, and yes, you are correct. Abrasive polishes and Megs cleaner waxes should be used first and pure waxes should be used as a topper. As far as I'm aware, the only pure wax that Megs currently makes is 26. According to Mike Phillips, Megs uses "trade secret oils" which aid adhesion in all their products. I'm not sure how many applications of oily wax can be layered before the previous layer slides off. I doubt that it is very many.

 

I've had very good luck with Meguiars liquid gold on my Pewter Camaro SS, however...it doesn't work very well on my Black WS6. Meguiars Paste wax (about $14) works wonders on a black car, just don't put on on too thick or it's a little more work to get it off. Just like everyone is saying "if you want to get the water marks off then use a polish" they are all correct. You can use rubbing compounds and all that **** but that requires a buffer which can cause swirls especially on a red car.

 

It would be helpful if you didnt had two arms....wax on, wax off....even Karate Kid can do it!!

 

Got a clay bar and when i spray the solution on the car and use the bar it seems to do nothing just like it is gliding on my paint not donig anything. Am i donig it wrong or is there any suggestions.

 

I personally find McGuires cheap and just popular because of how long its been out, ( I cant stand that tv show that smiley idiot has also). I use a mix of adams polishes and zaino, with those 2 theres really nothing else that you would even bother with.

 

Everyone's recommending NXT 2.0 but I'd actually recommend Meguiar's #21 v.2.0 over NXT. It definitely lasts longer.

 

Then you have never used some of their products. I'm curious as to what you can find locally that would even come close to the lasting protection of Meguiar's #21 2.0 or the depth of Meguiar's #26 for around $7 a bottle (aside from Duragloss #105).

And, believe it or not, there are TONS of other (and better) products than Adam's and Zaino. If you think one or two lines of products are the end-all be-all of abrasion and protection, you have a lot to learn. I'd really urge you to spend a couple months on www.autopia.org.

 

Look at the clay bar. There should be dirt on it.

Another way to test is to get a plastic grocery bag and rub it on an area you havent done. Itll feel nasty as hell. Then rub it on an area you have done, if its smooth you can move on.

 

That's really all that is suppose to happen. A clay bar won't remove scratches, or make the car look any better, its just to remove any contaminants that have bonded to the surface. If the surface is really contaminated then it will feel a bit rough at first but then smooth out. If the clay glides on the surface really easily and doesn't appear to get dirty then congrats because that's a good thing. It means you have clean paint surface. It should feel as smooth as glass when you finish.

 

Ya it just glides across not really any resistance. I thought there would be more elbow grease , im used to that , it is why i use good old fashion paste wax.
