Re: Custom hood idea for Firebird/TA
actually I threw that together in a matter of minutes.
The scale is NOT correct, the cowl part is a little big for the scale of the car

John, before you go putting a GM icon hood on your Pontiac, you should consider this BADASS looking Pontiac hood.
Someone obviously already makes it, maybe you can track down the shop. It reads "Fast Times" on the windshield and Carparts.com on the license plate.

Yea John I saw a car identical to the car that Tony posted up at GLD...it was a huge ram air hood and the car was red, it looked real badass...
The first pic is a little too much cowl and has less of that ram air effect...

Re: Custom hood idea for Firebird/TA
Doug, thanks for the link, but that isn't the same hood. The VFN hoods have the scoop modeled after the LT1 Ram Air hood, they are flat across the top. The picture of the red car looks like an exaggerated LS1 style ram air hood, with the crease up the middle.
Here are the pics of the VFN cowl hood though:

The red car in question....
It was posted on ls1.com many moons ago. did a few days of searching...the car/chassis was built by a chassis shop out of canada if I remember correctly.
that hood is also extra long if you look close...usually used for cars with fiberglass front clips. although the car in the pic appears to have a normal front clip.

I'd seriously go for it if someone could 'shop a 4" cowl to scale on a stock Pontiac hood. My only concern is how the gaps in the nose would look. I could get one done locally by VFN since they are 30 minutes from my house.

You know VFN or US body could proble help ya out with a hood also. I know us body has the ram air two for 98 and newer birds. Perhaps they could help.

Bob, yeah I saw your pics.
4" WS6 style hood is interesting.
But I'd like something even more distinctive, but it might look bad.
I have the ASCD !WS6 hood now.

i like that hood on the red formula, but to me cowl hoods on 4th gens look like a big nose sticking out. take that with the wind though, its coming from a guy that owns a TRAMARO

Re: Custom hood idea for Firebird/TA
Personally I do not like how those hoods look especially the one with the squarish WS6 style hood. The one that I think does look pretty cool is the pic posted by 1 BAD BIRD. its more agreesive than the current WS6 hood yet not so agressive that it looks ridiculous.

Re: Custom hood idea for Firebird/TA
The hood that 1BadBird has on looks the best. In fact, I like the way he did his whole car. I'm looking into some decals for the car and also some rims. But the yellow and black looks nice as hell, you got taste man!
