Default LS1 Alum Driveshaft in a V6?

I had a guy call me earlier and inquire about the driveshaft I was selling. It's an aluminum LS1 driveshaft and he wants to use it because his V6s is on its way out. Will this work with the auto trans that's in the 3800 series v6s?

Can you explain what this upgraded driveshaft do and what are the benefits? I was thinking of getting one. All I know is it holds up well against alot of torque.

well the v6's come stock with 2 peice steel drive shafts. which are much heavier and create more friction because they're 2 peice. the one peice aluminum driveshaft that come stock in the lt1 and ls1 are much lighter and distribute power more efficiently. and like you said, its stronger too.

Yea I know. Sometimes, it's not always about power. Just basically doing a solid balanced build.

The Camaro's came stock with a steel unit (and 2.73's) also, you had to upgrade to the 3.23 rearend and Z rated tires (I believe it was RPO code QLC), to get the Aluminum drive shaft.

I'm pretty sure all V6 camaro's came with steel DS's, even Y87's. You can swap the Aluminum DS into any 4th gen. The later V6 cars actually came with a solid steel DS though, which is good to know if you want a cheap steel DS if you break your Aluminum one.
