Default TH400 or Powerglide

My camaro has a L92 block and heads, with an 82mm turbo. Its been dynod on a chassis dyno and at 10psi it made 898rwhp and at 16psi it maxed out the 1000hp dyno. It wieghts 3350lb and I want to still have it street legal. I currently have a built T56, and am wanting to swap to an automatic. Which should i use a th400 or powerglide? Thanks for any information.

The Transmission has nothing to do with street legal....

I run a glide with my turbo setup and i love it.

Most people dont make enough TQ to run a glide...
I run a 1.80 1st gear vice the 1.76
The fall off between 1st and 2nd isnt that much with a glide abd you lose less power thru it then a TH400.
Another plus is there cheaper to build to handle the same HP as a 400.

I also went with the glide after seeing turbo cars leaving the line and the mph on the other end man one shift also. Thing about way back cars use to come from the factory with glides in them.

It Takes a well built turbo 400 to handle the power you are making. A powerglide will give you more mph and be more forgiving on traction,as well as lighter and less power to work.see what some of our customers say.http://www.need2speed.com/vb_forums/...ad.php?t=54322

How is a glide going to make more mph? High gear in a glide is the same 1 to 1 ratio as high gear in a 400? Unless it's rotating weight your talking about.

I agree , With a turbo car with a glide will manage the launch a lot better, especially when leaving on a ton of boost, and a questionable chassis set up, but you will need to make a lot more torque to make up for the weight of the vehicle.

The most you would need hard part wise for a 400 at your power level is a input shaft and a steel clutch hub. At that power level a glide or 400 will come out at close to the same $$$$.

I geared my Th400 setup to run like a glide at the track so I cross the traps at the top of 2nd gear and use 3rd as over drive when cruising around town. It works pretty good for me.

Read his sig. He's got a 2.75 rear gear, so 2nd in the TH400 is enough to carry all the way through the 1/4.

It's set up just like he stated. Nothing different inside. Built t handle the power and he has a high 2.75 1st gear so he can cruise the highway with a low RPM and still cross the traps where he needs to.
It's not ideal, but way cheaper then an Overdrive unit and take no power like ythey do.

I ok not if he would be faster with a 1:1 final drive ratio and taller gear .... Well actually I do know he would be faster.....but he doesn't want to give up being so streetable.
