Default stalled auto's for the street.

i have a 2000 a4 camaro bone stock. got a little spray on the way and thinking about a stall. i've had a stall before but it was a 5500 in a bigblock drag car. nothing for the street i was curious 1 is the 4l60e as bad about buring up as people say they are. 2 how much will the stall affect mpg in a street car. i was thinking a 3k 3.5k stall in a daily driver . is that to much for a daily driver , will it burn up the tranny ? i've been told the stocker's are junk.

Maybe this will help

I'm running a 3500 stall and it is just fine on the street. Once it locks up on the highway I still get 21mpg with a 3.73 gear in the back. Just make sure you put a cooler on and keep the fluid fresh. Adding a shift kit isn't a bad idea either

I have a 3200, I love mine on the streets and the strip, with a 3.73 gear im getting almost 21 down the highway, I put in a trans cooler (smart decision especially for the highway). If i were to do it again i would definitley go with a slightly higher stall

The stall didn't drop my mpg on the highway, my Procharger and 3.73 gear are the culprits there. As for around town, I don't even bother trying to check it!! LOL I like my Yank ST3500 very much on the street, and it even does well raising heck up in the mountains. Nothing like watching the look on the import guys faces when we are sitting at a stop light and I stall it up and get the supercharger whistling.

We offer a 3600 10" billet lock up for your application that will not hardly effect your fuel mileage.these converters will see .5 to .8 tenths gain on a stock car with no mods.It also loves the jug.The converter has a 3 year warranty with 1 free stall change.

Thanks,
Greg

A stock 4L60E trans should hold a little spray, but you never know. I know stock 6 cylinder cars that have burned up a tranny. I also know heads/cam guys who have over 100K miles on the stock tranny and it still works great. I think every performance auto should have a high stall converter, but I am a little biased. They just work better. Technology has changed a lot, you can get a 9.5" 3500 converter that almost drives like stock. If you want just a little bump in stall, I have a 11" 3200 converter that drives like stock but flashes higher at WOT. Good luck and if you have any more questions let me know.

So.. I'm the second owner, and my tranny fluid has obviously never been changed.

Anyone think it wuold be best to avoid getting a stall, I know it would be Bad to change my tranny fluid at this point, 125k. I know that doing a stall I'd lose a lot of the old fluid, any advice?

with that many miles man, i would just save up to get a built tranny and a stall from one of the sponsors.

my 02 Z has a vig 3200 stall and does pretty well for a daily driver. i probably could have gone slightly bigger, but i wanted my car to feel stock as much as possible. so im happy with my 3200 stall.

so you make a stall that is like stock under normal driving but under wot they have a higher stall speed. i have never heard of that! all i want is a good stall for the street that drives like stock and i'll get great mpg like now. as this is a dd street car before anything else.but when it's time to do the damn thing i can get it done. tranny's are not my department so i have to ask?'s. i really want to be able to take it to the track and bust off a solid 6.90-7.0 pass on spray 150-175 ( street trim) with sticky tires. is that not reasonable.
