It's a new trans. Should I get new bolts for the flywheel and converter? What bolt sizes? Should I get a new flywheel? What brand? Will I need new shims?

You'll have to measure for that when you get the stall in the trans.

Can I get the details on installing the converter, as far as what and where to measure? I've got a Vig 4400. I'll do the install with the motor/trans out of the car.

NAPA BK641-2075 is the part number for the converter bolts, stock size. they're shouldered with loctite already on the threads.

If it's a Yank converter it might use 6 bolts to mount. If it's a TCI they use larger bolts which require you to enlarge the mounting holes with a 7/16 drill.

I would check with the converter manufacturer to see if they use standard LS1 bolts.

my yank uses the standard 10mm bolts. they actually send new bolts with the converter. however, the ones they sent are not very long. i went out and purchased bolts that were 16mm long instead of the 12mm ones they sent. if i would of had the bolts before i had the converter i would have checked to see if 20mm bolts fit. i had a feeling they would but it was too hard to check when the tranny and stall was already bolted in the car.
