Default PT4000 gained .5 in the 1/8 (spinning)

I was wanting some 1/4 mile runs, but it's supposed to rain tomorrow at the track. So I took a trip to an 1/8 track today to try out my new Yank PT4000.

Previous best from a 1/4 mile track is:

1.883 - 60'
8.113 - 1/8
88.76 - MPH
12.56 - 1/4
109.5 - MPH

With the PT4000 my new best in the 1/8 is:
1.684 - 60'
4.859 - 330'
7.571 - 1/8
89.74 - MPH

I couldn't hook for **** though. I have 295/50/15 Sigma TR radials. I think the TR stands for truck. They hook good with the stock stall so I would have thought that would have been a little better than they were, but I don't think the track prep was up to par.

I had to leave off idle and ease into the gas for about 20-30 feet. I tried to leave hard a few times, but would spin almost to the 330' and I just let off after that.

I had put the camera up after running a few 10 sec passes. So I didn't get the 7.57 run on film, but I got it back out after that and got a few passes. One of which was a 7.61. Here's the video of that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqMOF2JX8cA

DA was -300 which might have helped some, but my 7.57 was after 4 hot laps. So some cooling time would have probably helped more than the DA benefit.

All in all I'm pretty happy with the PT4000. It doesn't really feel like much of an improvement on the street, but evidently it is.

With some drag radials, a better track, and some more good cool weather, I feel confident that 7.4s-7.3s are in the near future.

My mods are: 2001 WS6 A4 w/ lid, ram air, catback, ported TB, EWP, tune, PT4000, NextLevel 4L60E and draglites.

7.57 in the 1/8 is definitely high 11's. Work on the 60 and you should see possible mid 11's. Nice gains. What gears?

what rpm are you shifting at? did you pull a 1.883 on the stock stall? the most i could pull on the stock stall was 2.0. i am a full weight car and maybe my tr224 shifted my powerband up a little bit so it didn't have as much off of the line. i am running 3.23's.

I have 3.23s, but the 295/50s are an inch taller than stock.

Mid 11s would be nice. I have a FAST 90 that I'm gonna stick on it and will probably get some headers, now that low end power doesn't matter anymore. At WOT the RPMs never drop below 5200.

Weight helps and you probably dont make as power down low as you use to. Which is why I didn't want to get headers before the stall. Are you spinning any? Mine was starting to spin on the stock tires, but when I switched to the draglites and wider tires, that wasn't a problem anymore. Also my adjustable torque arm got me a little gain in the 60.

My shift points are set for 6200.

i wasn't spinning. i was using nitto drag radials. at the very most with the stock stall they would bark and then go. i just put a pt3800 in my car and i am finishing up on the umi tunnel mount torque arm, lca's, lca relocation brackets, and 4 fresh shocks. if you get to a 1/4 mile track let us know your results.

I'm confused. You ran 10's on these mods: My mods are: 2001 WS6 A4 w/ lid, ram air, catback, ported TB, EWP, tune, PT4000, NextLevel 4L60E and draglites?

Or was that on juice? Or should your 1/8th there be close to 11's N/A?

If you don't have headers or anything that is darn good N/A on radials. If I read that right.

I spun and ran 10s in the 1/8. The best I could do without spinning was 7.57 in the 1/8. Which would be a high 11 in the 1/4.

In other words. My previous best was 8.1 (1/8 mile) dead hooking, as seen on this 1/4 mile run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WQ0Vbe7nms) and my new best is a 7.57 (1/8) having to ease into to keep from spinning.

Got ya! My old car 7.40's was mid 11's but it was Buick turbo power. So those mod's are it and 3.23's? What wheels are you running and what did you have to do to get them to fit?

I'm in converter mode now. Was going to try and stay in the 3600 range so was looking Circle D or Yank. Is the 4000 bad in daily driving?

I would say high 11s because its only 89-90 MPH, so I doubt it's as impressive on the top end as most cars running mid 7s.

Yeah those are my only mods, the wheels are Weld Draglites 15x4 front and 15x10 rear.

How's the 4000 daily driving? Your guess is as good as mine. I really only drive this car to and from the track. Though, recently I've been going to a track that's about 2 hours away. And it's really not that bad. It takes some getting use to and I've had to play with the lock up speed a little.

I could easily see myself driving this everyday, someone riding with me probably wouldn't even notice. Except maybe going slow up steep hills. And I haven't found a good place to mount my tranny cooler yet, but as of now the stock one seems to do pretty good. It's gotten up to about 210 after that 2 hour ride (mostly highway). And I at the track I made 5 hot laps let it sit for about 30 minutes and made 3 more hot laps and the highest I saw on my logs was 214 degrees.

You are doing great man! Ported TB, underdrive, headers, ORY .... got some more power pieces to add there.

My car with a 3600. Where do you think it could possibly run at in 1/8 and 1/4?

What BS are the rears and did you have to grind the stock calipers a bunch?

Long tubes usually kill the 60 foot times on a stock stall. You could probably gain atleast .8 in the 1/4, maybe a whole second. Assuming that you hook, ofcourse.

The back spacing on these wheels is a 6.5, but they stick out from under the car a little much. I believe the standard for f-bodys is 7.5 BS on a 10 inch wheel.

You will have to grind, some small spacers will go along way. I didn't use any spacers and it took all night to cut these things down. I'd say we cut about 1/2 deep the whole length of the caliper.

Part of the reason I was thinking of just sticking to my Speedlines although they are I am told 22 lbs. each. Bogarts are about the only non-grind race wheel. But can't run them on the street.

I replaced my Speedlines for the older style WS6 wheels and they are quite a bit lighter. I actually bought them with a nice set of M/T drag radials, so they'll be going back shortly.

I didn't want to waste the DRs since I didn't need them. But I'm needing them now.
