4L60E Problem Need help, its my DD!
Im pretty new to the F-body 4L60E world, and ive got an issue. I got on the freeway, and matted it from about a 30 roll (In drive) to about 100mph. I lifted to slow down slightly, and settled in at about 80mph when i realized i was basically coasting.
It just wasnt in gear, but the indicator on the shifter hadnt moved. I manually shifted it to 3rd, and it kicked in, then i slowed at the bottom of an off ramp. I started driving, and 1st/2nd felt ok, then 3rd just wasnt there.. if i played with the shifter manually, i could get it to shift.
Fast forward, to my drive home, and 1st/2nd was fine still, and 3rd was neutral it seemed. i could get it to shift, but not sure how i did it, just moving the shifter from 2nd to 3rd, no real pattern or set way to get it to shift.
Got home, and checked the fluid (All of 5.5miles), it didnt seem burned? What should i look for? Thanks in advance.

If you put the shifter in overdrive, does it shift 1-2 then neutralizes in 3rd or do you mean you have to manually shift it so it will shift?

that happen to me a few years back and I don't remember exactly why but I think that time it was my over run clutches were worn out to the metal.
but if it wasn't that time I think it might have been the time where my rubber seal lip tore and folded over in side my input drum, but either way I had to tear apart...

Yes, in drive 1-2 is ok, then it will go neutral when it shifts to third. If i manually shift around, from 2-3 sometimes it will shift into third i think.

Agreed, don't do a regular rebuild with stock parts, upgrade it to handle the power goals you are after now so it does not happen again. This will happen again and again with high power and stock tranny rebuild. This is a great time to throw in a stall converter if you do not have one.

I just bought the car, and the previous owner said it had a slightly beefed up trans, but it couldnt handle it i guess.
The car is cammed with full bolt ons, an Edge 4000 stall with another cooler, and some spray (Currently jetted for a 175 shot, but i havent sprayed the car since ive owned it.)

To be honest I wouldn't rebuild it
Just get one from the sponsor they seam to have a good reliable tranny that you don't have to keep messing with.
I have heard nothing but good things about thier trannys.

I dont like to rebuild either.. I would rather just buy a completely built, ready to go trans. Thats what i did, when our T56 went, just ordered up a Level V(and then some) RPM trans.
Im kind of leaning towards Performabuilt's Level 2 or even 3 (I like overkill) but im also considering selling the car.
