Default Service port size on the 4l60e
I tried searching but failed. What size fitting goes into the service port on the 4l60e? Is it 3/8NPT or smaller than that? I'm considering installing a temp gauge sender there.

It is 1/8" NPT

Well that sucks. I guess I should have checked that before ordering the gauge.

I assume you are referring to the line pressure port or aer you talking the drain plug?

It's the sensor port that has nothing screwed into it.

yes, driver side, I have no idea what size head the bolt is.

That is the 1/8 pipe for the line pressure. it is not the most accurate way to measure temperature. Ideally you want it in the pan.

That means taping the pan and trying to weld a bung in there correct? Can that even be done without leaks?

It can but takes a little work There are drain plug kits that you just drill through the pan and tighten together.http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...115+4294847067

i tried one of those on my stock trans and i couldnt stop the thing from leaking. it seemed like the fluid would find its way down the threads and leave a drop on the floor. it was very frustrating
