Default Have a PT4000 Converter, But want a converter that hits hard & gas milage!

OK. My car ran 7.20 @ 95 on my PT4000. Well I am lucky if I get 13 mpg on the street. I want a converter thats not loose & hits just as hard as my PT4000 & 60fts just as hard & can get me back up to 20 mpg!

I know its tough to run my same times & have a converter that does what my PT did. But with gas going up I want to still enjoy my car & my wallet not get hit so hard.

Been thinking about the PY3800,

I have 3.42s now. Thinking about dropping down to 3.23s to also help on Gas milage. My car has TFS 215 heads & 58cc Compression with the Vindicator Cam.

Any suggestions I am open?

Try to raise your shift points a little this will help your gas mileage around town.

You could probably play around with the tune some to improve milage. I would try that first and see what happens. If you are still not satisfied, then start looking for a converter.

I get 14.5 around town with a PT4400 and 3.23's. I've honestly never thought too much about it....MPG and mods don't belong in the same sentence. I get 25 MPG on the highway which is better than I ever got stock (20ish). I can DD my car, and I often do, but I also have a '00 Silverado that I drive too. I've heard the PY are super tight, and leave a lot to be desired in NA applications. They're more for nitrous and FI setups.

The PT's rock and it's hard to beat their topend....if you swap to something different, you might sacrifice some performance. Just something to keep in mind. Talk to Yank and see what they suggest. Maybe they can restall it to something that suits you better. It's significantly cheaper than buying a new one. I ran the SS4000 before this, and while you'll be giving up some topend, it's supposed to hit harder out of the hole and it's definitely tighter for city driving. That might be a nice compromise to consider.

+1 for FTI. I have a 4000 converter from them and its very tight just cruising around and on the highway. It hits almost as hard as a pt4000 when you lean on it
